Gingerbread House contest donation to Operation Santa

Entries in the gingerbread house contest at Capital City Bank lead to a donation of $300 to Operation Santa. On Monday, Mary Wallace of Capital City Home Loan presented a check to Denise Colangelo of Operation Santa along with Heather Ryback of Ryback Realty. Eleven businesses participated, including Wakulla Springs Lodge, Zaxbys, Donkeys, Assini’s, Sign Gypsys, Barns Spirits, Rybak Realty, and Capital City Home Loan. Charter Review finishes

The commission dissolves after passing its final report with 5 proposals

Members of the Charter Review Committee after passing their final report and voting to dissolve. They acknowledged that two of the proposals they submitted are likely to be kicked out after review by the county commission for violating state preemption.

The Wakulla County Charter Review Committee finished its work last week and passed out a final report with five proposed amendments to the county charter.
Two of those may run afoul of state preemption laws and will likely not appear on the ballot in November: one proposal was to limit RV parks to a maximum of five units per acre; another proposal, which drew the most support from citizens, was to protect certain native trees that are 12 inches or larger.

Wellhead ordinance goes to county commission

Planning board approves a change sought by water companies to reduce setback

The Wakulla County Planning Commission voted last week to recommend that the county’s regulations on wellhead protection be amended to reduce a development buffer from 300 feet to 100 feet after representatives from local water companies said the buffer would create difficulties.
