Sheriff’s Report
Activity reported for the week of July 22 to 28:
FRIDAY, JULY 22
• Deputies responded to a home on Danley Grade reference criminal mischief. Nicole Lawhon stated vehicles she owned had been damaged and was scared the suspect might still be on-scene. Upon arrival, deputies searched the property but the suspect had left prior to their arrival. Lawhon stated she went to dinner, when she returned, she noticed the damage. Her truck parked in the yard had dirt packed in the fuel tank. The tail-light was busted and one of the tires was flat. A statue had been run over as well. A possible suspect has been identified in this case. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation. Deputy Dakota Haddock investigated.
• Walmart Asset Protection reported a retail theft. Asset Protection staff stated the suspect was seen at the jewelry counter removing boxes of jewelry. The suspect removed 13 boxes of jewelry valued at $1,202.15. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation. Deputy Arturo Cordoba investigated.
SATURDAY, JULY 23
• WCSO Road Patrol Deputies along with members of the WCSO Reserve Unit assisted Florida Highway Patrol with a fatal traffic crash on U.S. Highway 319. The traffic crash had the highway shut down for several hours and required multiple units to assist with traffic control.
SUNDAY, JULY 24
• WCSO along with the Florida Highway Patrol, Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Corrections, and Fish and Wildlife Conservation officers all assisted with a reported gunman on Wakulla Springs Road. It was initially reported that several armed suspects had shot at a vehicle and fled into the woods. After interviewing the original complainant and searching for the alleged suspects it was learned the complainant was mentally ill and having a mental health crisis. The subject was subsequently taken to a local hospital for an involuntary mental health evaluation by WCSO.
• Andrew Hancock was arrested after he fired a gun in the direction of an individual he was having an argument with. Deputies were called to the scene of a disturbance off of Spring Creek Highway. Prior to arriving at the address, deputies made contact with victim who was walking down the roadway. The victim stated he had been in an argument with Hancock, and that Hancock had retrieved a shotgun and fired it in his direction. The victim advised he had been struck by several pellets. Deputies continued on to the home and located Hancock, who admitted to the firing the gun. Hancock was arrested for aggravated battery and transported to the Wakulla County Jail. EMS responded to the scene as well to check out the victim. Deputies Arturo Cordoba and Kendrick Gavin investigated.
MONDAY, JULY 25
• Lt. David Pienta initiated a traffic stop at Bloxham Cutoff and Lonnie Raker Lane for an expired tag. During the stop the driver, Bradley Taylor, relinquished a small amount of “dab” – or marijuana wax. Taylor was given a warning for the expired tag, and arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana.
• Brent Davis reported a set of rims and a set of tires being stolen from his business, the Tire Store. A possible suspect has been identified in this case. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation. Deputy Dustin Matthews investigated.
TUESDAY, JULY 26
• Ronnie Licitra reported his home being broken into and damage done to his walls. Licitra also reported the fire extinguisher being stolen from his home. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation. Deputy Rudolph Hinson investigated.
• Sgt. Eddie Webb conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to maintain a single lane. Upon contact with the driver, he became very irate. After several attempts to obtain his driver’s license and lots of insults later, the subject was identified as Jquone Isom. It was determined Isom’s license was suspended. While Sgt. Webb was writing a traffic citation, a state trooper began speaking with Isom. Isom told the trooper to get away from his vehicle. Isom allegedly began reaching around his center console area. For officer safety, the trooper attempted to remove Isom. After a brief moment, officers were able to secure Isom into hand restraints. Isom was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended or revoked (DWLSR), obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest without violence. Jquone Isom was transported to the Wakulla County Jail without incident.
• Deputy William Bennett responded to 97 Riverside Drive in reference to an intoxicated driver who hit the curb and blew out a tire. Contact was made with the driver David Shostak. Two witnesses and video footage put Shostak behind the wheel of the car. He agreed to Field Sobriety Exercises which he reportedly failed. A urine sample was taken which tested positive for amphetamines. The urine sample will be sent off for further testing. Shostak was arrested for driving under the influence.
• Deputy Dakota Haddock conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to maintain a single lane. Deputy Haddock made contact with the driver, Evelyn Sanders, who reportedly said: “I have been drinking.” Sanders allegedly had slurred speech and was unable to keep herself up. The smell of alcohol was emitting from the vehicle. An open Bud Light can was reportedly observed in the center console. She refused Field Sobriety Exercises and a breathalyzer. Sanders was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and transported to the Wakulla County Jail.
THURSDAY, JULY 28
• Randall Dick reported the theft of a World War II era rifle. The rifle was estimated at approximately $1,000. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation. Sgt. Mike Alexander investigated.
