FRIday, MAY 8
- Deputy Kory Smith responded to Sam Smith Circle in reference to a citizen reporting a theft of some checks. She advised she had placed multiple checks in the mail to pay bills. When the mailman came to deliver her mail, he advised her there was only one envelope in the mailbox. She checked her bank account and none of the checks had been cashed as of this moment. She requested this incident be documented and potentially re-opened if an attempt to cash the checks were made.
SATURday, MAY 9
- Deputy Jackson Kittrell initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired tag. Upon stopping the vehicle, Deputy Kittrell verified the information through dispatch. The driver reportedly admitted to not having a valid driver’s license. His information was relayed to dispatch which advised he had 10 prior Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (DWLSR) convictions. Due to this information, he was placed under arrest and transported to the county jail without further incident.
- Deputy Lexi Kreitlow responded to the sheriff’s office lobby in reference to a fraud complaint. Contact was made with the reporting person, who advised he was contacted by someone he believed to be employed by the sheriff’s office. The unknown caller told him he had a warrant and needed to pay court fees for failing to show up to court. The unknown caller sent him barcodes to submit payment. He sent $500 to one of the barcodes. He realized the caller was misleading him after the payment was submitted. He wishes to pursue charges for the incident.
SUNday, MAY 10
- Deputy Jonathan Kilbourn responded to Hidden Valley Lane in reference to a citizen wanting to report a burglary. While speaking with him, he advised he came to check on the property when he observed a wagon in the wood line. He thought it strange due to the wagon originally being in the shed. He immediately went to the sheds on the property and discovered them in disarray. He checked on the residence which had burnt down (documented in a prior report) and discovered that items had been moved around as if someone had gone through the rubble. Due to items be missing, he requested a report. Case forwarded to Criminal Investigation Division.
- Deputy Kieron McMillan responded to Elie Carter Lane in reference to a lost property complaint. Contact was made with the reporting person, who advised his binder went missing from his shed. The binder was last seen on May 5 and contained over $600 in Pokémon cards. He advised someone came by the residence on May 5 to purchase a bean bag chair and may have taken the binder containing the Pokémon cards. The reporting person realized the binder was missing on May 8 as he attempted to place more cards in the binder. He advised the shed containing the binder is unable to be secured properly so it is unknown if someone entered the structure without his knowledge. There were no witnesses to the incident.
MONday, MAY 11
- Deputy Lexi Kreitlow responded to Royal Oaks Court in reference to a criminal mischief complaint. Contact was made with the reporting person, who advised he observed two individuals driving ATVs near his property. He advised the subjects possibly damaged the easement on his property and damaged a lock to a secured area. Contact was made with two subjects in the area on ATVs. It is unclear if the subjects were the ones observed by the reporting person. There were no witnesses to the incident. Nothing further advised.
- Deputy Zachary Godwin conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired registration. Contact was made with the driver who was found to knowingly have a suspended driver’s license. He was placed under arrest and an inventory of the vehicle was conducted yielding a firearm and ammunition. He was found to have nine felony convictions as well. He was placed under arrest and transported to the jail without incident.
TUESday, MAY 12
- Deputy Ian Kilbourn responded to Walmart and made contact with Asset Protection Officer who stated an unknown female passed the last point of sale with approximately $20 of merchandise without paying. Case forwarded to CID.
- Deputy Dustin Saba responded to the 100 block of Sopchoppy Hwy. and made contact with a citizen who stated he rented a skid steer and the engine compartment caught fire. The fire was extinguished, but the value of the damage was unknown.
- Deputy Zachary Godwin responded to Grayes Place and made contact with the reporting parties, who stated while away someone entered their residence and stole several items totaling $1,180. Possible suspects have been identified. Case forwarded to CID.
WEDNESday, MAY 13
- Deputy Jonathan Kilbourn responded to Rocky’s in reference to theft. Video footage depicted an older white male enter the store stealing $126 in Pokémon cards and a large boiled peanut order. He departed in a black Chevy with a red kayak in the back. Case forwarded to CID.
- Deputy Joshua Parker made contact with Ethan Gray whom advised his tag was stolen and doesn’t know when or where. The tag was entered in to NCIC/FCIC as stolen.
THURSday, MAY 14
- Deputy Dylan Buckhalt responded to the sheriff’ soffice lobby in reference to a fraud complaint. Contact was made with the reporting person, who advised he discovered fraudulent activity to his banking account. He advised he was recently issued a new banking card and used it on May 11 at the gas station. He started seeing unauthorized charges to his account shortly after this transaction totaling $1,025.41. He reported the incident to his banking institution. He did not wish to pursue charges at this time and requested the incident be documented in order to begin the refund process. Nothing further advised.
- Deputy Ashton Williams responded to Friendship Lane in reference to a theft complaint. Contact was made with the reporting person, who advised he discovered his firearm was missing from his residence. He last saw the firearm on March 29. He stated he usually keeps the firearm in a backpack, located in his bedroom closet. He advised he recently had bedroom furniture delivered to his residence on May 5. He advised he briefly left the movers unsupervised inside his residence. He was unable to provide a serial number for the missing firearm at this time. Case forwarded to CID.
FRIday, MAY 15
- Deputy Ashton Williams responded to the area of East Ivan Road and Crawfordville Highway, in reference to an incident. A purse was located in the area by an onlooker and turned over for safekeeping. An identification card was located inside the purse. Deputies attempted to return the purse to the owner with negative results. Deputies were unable to locate the involved parties from the initial complaint. The purse was seized for safekeeping. Nothing further advised.
- A citizen called in reference to a vehicle burglary. Video footage was reviewed in the 90 block of Spokane Trail showing an unknown subject on her property. There was nothing taken from her vehicle or shed. There was a vape and cell phone left in the back seat and credit card found on the ground, which she stated was not hers. She did not wish to press charges and signed an affidavit for non-prosecution. Case closed with option to re-open.
