Wakulla Station News

By VERNA BROCK

So, do you do annual New Year’s resolutions? If so, how are they going? I gave up the entire idea of resolving to change on the new year, a long time ago. First, I’m terrible at maintaining my good intentions. Second, the whole idea of self improvement having to start with the new year seems contrived. So I guess my resolution, if I were to make one, is to be present, and strive to be aware all the time, all year long. I suppose the new year is a good marker to reflect on the past year, and things good and bad that happened. May we all navigate this river of life as it comes at us, around us, and moves us along, with peace and courage.

Don’t forget Arbor Day this coming Saturday, the 14th, from 10 am to 1 p.m. It will be at the Wakulla County Extension Office in Crawfordville and is a drive-thru event. Each vehicle can receive two potted trees, and there are many different varieties available. You can get a complete list from advertisements in the Wakulla Sun. For further information, contact the Extension Office.

Condolences to my good friend Ernest Toole and his family. His beloved wife Beverly left us for a greater glory about the same time my mother died, and I ask your prayers for them now. Bev was a tiny force of nature, much like my mother. I first met Bev when she and E.T. were running their little hotdog restaurant where The Kast Net is now, though I’d known E.T. for years before that (THAT is a whole ‘nother story!). I will miss Bev until we meet again in Glory.

Please keep my dear friend Clem Bunker in your prayers, as she recovers from pneumonia. Prayers for each of us who lost loved ones this past year, may we find peace and comfort among our present loved ones and with our God.
