Florida is bracing for Hurricane Ian later this week.

As of Monday, Sept. 26, the storm was south of Cuba with sustained winds of 80 mph and moving northwest at 13 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Wakulla Emergency Management Director Jennifer Nagy said the Wakulla Emergency Operations Center was opened on Monday at 8 a.m. at a level 2 status.

It was announced that sandbags are available at the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office with a limit of 10 per person.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for all 67 counties in the state.

On Monday, it was anticipated that the hurricane would make landfill on the Gulf Coast around central Florida on Thursday morning – but that is subject to change as the storm heads north.
