Michael “Mike” Allen Sasser

Michael “Mike” Allen Sasser, 78, of Sopchoppy, passed away peacefully at home with his family on October 27, 2022.

He was born in Lake Wales and grew up in Crystal River. He was a U.S. Navy veteran on the U.S.S. Midway. Mike moved to Sopchoppy 36 years ago with wife Linda Sasser where they raised their family and were always involved with school activities. Together they also fostered many children, adopting two. He worked at St. Marks Powder where he jokingly referred to his job title as “Parts Replacer.” He enjoyed hot rods, carpentry, antiquities, and playing darts. Mike had a witty personality, was a jokester, and he loved being a grandfather.

He was predeceased by his wife, Linda Sasser; father, Joseph DeBusk; mother, Ruth DeBusk; brothers, George DeBusk, Wayne DeBusk, and Joseph DeBusk; and sister, Doris DeBusk.

Survivors include his beloved partner in life, Sandy Miller; children, John Sasser (wife Jill), Sharon Sasser (husband Joe Sweat); sisters, Gail (husband Ted Bradley), Susan Thornock, and Bertha Eileen Capps; and four grandchildren, Seth and Meghann Sasser, and Cora and Solomon Sweat; and also many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, 5 to 7 p.m. at Family Funeral Home in Harvey Young Chapel. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, 10 a.m., at Family Funeral Home in Harvey Young Chapel. Interment will be at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
