Sheriff’s Report



FRIDAY, OCT. 21

• Deputy Dakota Haddock responded to a home on Powhatan Street reference criminal mischief. Contact was made with victim William Cox, who stated someone had busted out the back windshield of his car during the night. Cox was able to provide a possible suspect in this case.

• Deputy Michelle Stripling responded to Homestretch Lane in reference to illegal dumping. The complex manager reported a white male driving a Chevrolet truck dumping trash and large items in their Dumpster. She said he does not live in the complex and this is not the first time the man has been seen using the Dumpster. An attempt was made to locate the subject in order to serve him a trespass warning unsuccessfully.

SUNDAY, OCT. 23

• Deputy Anthony Paul responded to Timberwood Court reference a theft. Contact was made with Andrew Carter, who stated two boat decals were stolen. Carter was able to provide a possible suspect in the case. The decals were entered into FCIC/NCIC. A stolen tag form was provided to Carter.

• Deputy Anthony Paul responded to Country Way in reference to the theft of a motorcycle. The victim stated he was gone from his residence overnight and upon his return he found his 2022 Suzuki was damaged. The victim identified two possible suspects in the case. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.

MONDAY, OCT. 24

• Rachel Lopez reported while at Hudson Park an unknown male showed up asking where his cell phone was. Lopez advised she briefly spoke to him advising she did not see his cell phone. The male, who was later identified as Charles Aikens, asked Lopez for her phone. When she refused, he forcefully took the phone. Before leaving the area, Aikens threw the phone back at her after she said she was calling the cops. When Aikens threw the phone, the phone landed on the concrete and broke. Aikens was located nearby and placed under arrest for robbery by sudden snatching. Deputy Kendrick Gavin investigated.

TUESDAY, OCT. 25

• Deputy Arturo Cordoba responded to the Duke Energy substation at 816 Crawfordville Hwy. in reference to a possible burglary. Upon arrival Deputy Cordoba made contact with Scott Brantley, who advised someone cut the chain-link fence and removed several spools of copper wiring. Brantley advised the missing wire value was estimated at $10,000. Detectives were notified and Detective Travis Hall responded to the scene. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 26

• Deputy Heather Will conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired tag. Contact was made with the driver Mary Beaty, who was found to have a suspended driver’s license with four prior convictions for driving without a license. Mary was arrested and transported to the jail without incident.

• Deputy Edwin Grove responded to Panacea Pizza in reference to the report of a theft. The business owner, Walter Sutcliffe, reported a pressure washer was taken from the rear of the building. Sutcliffe was able to provide two suspects who were loitering in the area earlier in the evening. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.

THURSDAY, OCT. 27

• Deputy Dakota Haddock responded to Steele Court reference a theft. Contact was made with complainant who advised he had two packages delivered on Friday, Oct. 21. The packages were delivered to the wrong address. The packages were delivered to another nearby address. UPS was able to verify via GPS where the packages were delivered. Deputy Haddock made contact with the residents at the suspected address who denied receiving any packages. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
