The victim, Mike Williams, was a resident of St. Marks and president of Florida AFL-CIOBy WILLIAM SNOWDEN Editor
A St. Marks resident, Mike Williams, reportedly drowned in the Wakulla River on Saturday, June 18, not far from his home.
The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a response to a drowning in St. Marks but would not confirm the victim’s identity, noting the case is still under investigation. Deputies responded to a call around 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Florida AFL-CIO announced Williams’ death in a “water accident” near his home in St. Marks.
Williams had been the head of the state AFL-CIO since 2009.
