Wakulla Station News

By VERNA BROCK

So much anticipation as I write this! School starts this week, Thursday, August 10th. Kids, parents and teachers are feeling the familiar excitement each new year brings. My granddaughter Avery is starting Kindergarten, and grandson Harrison begins Middle School. Lots of transitions and adventures await all of our students.
On that note, allow me to remind you again to be extra observant as you traverse our roads. Our children will be out and about, going and coming from school. Kids aren’t always the most careful as they wait for buses, or rush to get home at the end of the day. It’s up to us drivers to be vigilant for them.
I joined my friends with the Woodville Volunteer Fire Department for our annual potluck lunch on Saturday. Let me begin by saying the Woodville Community Center is a stellar place to have an event. Then add good food and good friends, and a good time is guaranteed. These folks are dedicated to keeping their neighbors in Woodville and Wakulla safe, and it is my honor to be counted among them.
Ed and I had the pleasure of being with our daughter Emma’s family in celebrating the upcoming arrival of a new baby. We celebrated our granddaughter Brooke’s good news with a great cookout, fellowship and baby shower. Little Paisley Grace will be making her appearance very soon.
Don’t forget, this Sunday is Second Sunday Sing and Supper at the Woodville United Methodist Church. If you like great music, food and fellowship, be there at 6 p.m.
Maybe you’ve noticed the cleared patch of land just south of the Woodville Branch Library and Community Center. It will be a sewer lift station, which means the good folks  there will finally have a way to put failing septic systems to rest.
On another development front, the Wakulla Station Dollar General is nearing completion. They have put up a banner that reads “DG Market.” As I understand, this means they will sell a wider variety of fresh vegetables, groceries and meats than the simpler Dollar stores. That, at least, is a plus for folks over on this side of the county.
Baby Sebastian continues to need our prayers. He is very close to being able to come home for the first time ever, and his family can’t wait! Also, please continue to lift our friends who have lost loved ones or are struggling with illness.
