Coast Guard Auxiliary Reports
The recent launch of the Coast Guard Cutter Argus with a flag donated by Publix.
As mentioned last week, The Coast Guard made a big splash in Panama City with the christening and launch of its new offshore patrol cutter (OPC), the Argus.
Publix in Palm Harbor contacted Bob before the launch that they had a 12x20 foot flag to donate. Bob contacted the USCG to ask if they wanted it for the launch of Argus and the shipyard got back and said yes. After the launch, we received word from the shipyard that they put it on the ship for launching. It was hung on the aft (rear) deckhouse. You can see it in the image shared with us.
It is always a great feeling when the community, Auxiliary and active duty Coast Guard are able to come together and share in such a momentous event. Thank you to Publix for being a community leader and supporting the USCG.
Thanks to Sherrie, we will always remember safe boating is no accident!
