This report is for activity Aug. 2-8:

FRIDAY, AUGUST 2

  • Diane Herring reported an unknown subject driving into her fence along Old Shell Point Road and leaving the scene. Herring was unable to provide an estimated cost for repairs at the time of the call but will provide the information later. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation. Deputy Shayne Broxie investigated.
  • Deputy Zach Godwin responded to the area of 766 Wakulla Springs Road in reference to a vehicle on fire. Upon arrival, Deputy Godwin made contact with Jordan Hackney, who advised he was driving home when his vehicle began to smoke. Hackney advised he pulled over to the side of the road and the vehicle was on fire. Wakulla Fire Rescue responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was a total loss.
  • Deputy Arturo Cordoba responded to 35 Mike Stewart Dr. in reference to a theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, Deputy Cordoba made contact with Walmart Asset Protection who advised they observed two black females go through the self-checkout line and past the last point of sale without paying for items. The subjects got away with some $400 worth of merchandise. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 3

  • Deputy Ashton Williams conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Hwy. 98 in reference to the vehicle swerving all over the road and into oncoming traffic. Upon making contact with the driver, Redford Jerrett, Deputy Williams determined the driver was possibly intoxicated. After further investigation Jerrett was placed under arrest and transported to the Wakulla County Jail for DUI.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 4

  • Deputies responded to Rail Lane in reference a disturbance. Upon arrival contact was made with William Jordan, Judy Herring, and Rachel Sadler. Jordan was being aggressive and verbally berating deputies. After failing to comply with instructions from deputies, Jordan was arrested for obstruction and battery. Deputy Kory Smith responded.

MONDAY, AUGUST 5

  • Deputy Don Newsome responded to a home on Razorback Road in reference to an active fire. Upon arrival Deputy Newsome observed smoke coming from the back door. The Wakulla County Fire Rescue arrived on scene extinguished the fire. It is unknown at this time what caused the fire and the residence was deemed a total loss.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 6

  • Deputy Payton Surrette responded to an address in reference to a theft. Upon arrival Deputy Surrette met with Christopher Lee who explained he left his vehicle doors unlocked during the night, upon returning to his vehicle today he discovered money, prescription medication and a .22 caliber Ruger revolver missing. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7

  • Courtney Lane Davis reported sending a check for payment to “The Currency Agency” on July 7 for $2,800. On Aug. 6, $2,500 was withdrawn from the Forward Wellness business account. Davis checked with her bank and discovered the check had been altered and the payee was changed. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation. Deputy Kendrick Gavin investigated.
