Wakulla Station News

I cannot believe we are in November, and the temperatures are reaching the high 80s every day! Whatever happened to Autumn? Pretty soon we’ll be in the middle of Winter, and still perspiring. I am over it for a little while.
Be careful out there, folks. The flu is circulating in and around the county, and it can still make us really sick. Most of us can get free flu shots, and it is well worth the time it takes to NOT spend a few days in bed.
After Church, Ed and I went to the North Florida Fair on Sunday with daughter Eden and granddaughter Harper. Despite it being hotter’n heck, we had a great time. We saw our old friend Harold Thurmond there, working with his Christian campers group. What a great surprise to see him, hale and hearty, welcoming fair-goers with the love of Christ!
As we moved on, Harper decided she would really like to have a cow. We visited the bovine competitions and shows several times, as well as the petting zoo. We also saw the 4-H exhibits, always a favorite, and I am proud to tell you, Ed’s dark honey won first place! I may be biased, but it IS really yummy.
Harrison had a previous appointment with a fishing trip with Dad Brian, and managed to catch what I can only describe as a whopper. I don’t think he missed the fair. Meanwhile, Brennan was home recovering from, you guessed it, the flu.
Please continue to lift the family of Ms. Betty Manning in your prayers, as well as Barbara Vickery, Paul Clark, as they mourn the losses of their loved ones. Linda Dunwoody and Cindy Blackstock also need our prayers, as does Pastor Steve Montgomery. Steve has a broken leg which was surgically pinned on Tuesday, and will have an estimated 10 week recovery. Somehow, even this has failed to slow Steve down!
