  • THANK YOU FROM WAKULLA 4-H

    Editor, The Sun:

Wakulla 4-H youth and volunteers led the celebration effort that marked Wakulla County’s founding day.   Hundreds of citizens turned out to enjoy beautiful weather, live music, and birthday cake.   The celebration is possible due to a group effort of committee members who represent various local organizations.    The committee welcomes new members every year.  To become involved, reach out to 4-H agent Rachel Pienta at r.pienta@ufl.edu or 850-926-3931.   The celebration is held annually on the second Saturday of March, which sometimes falls on the county’s actual birthday!
Thank you to the following community partners who help make the event possible:
UF/IFAS Extension,  Board of County Commissioners, Wakulla County Historical Society, Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Library, Wakulla County Library, Lamar Advertising, Wakulla Sun, Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, Wakulla County Clerk of Court and Comptroller, Wakulla 4-H, and Visit Wakulla.
The members of the Wakulla Wonderful Committee spend countless hours meeting and planning to grow and improve the event each year:  Greg James, Quincee Messersmith, Rachel Pienta, David Pienta, Andrew Riddle, Jeff Yarbrough, Linda Oaks, Debbie Jay, Desiree Gorman, Bill Snowden, Kinsey Miller, and Elizabeth Hughes.
The celebration would not complete without the many vendors who commit to participating:
Sherlock Springs, Wakulla County Clerk of Court & Comptroller, Rotary Club of Wakulla, Panacea Waterfronts, Ed Brock, Beekeeper, End of the Rainbow Events, Barineau Heating and Air Conditioning,Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, Apalachee Regional Planning  Council and Wakulla County Planning Department, 4-H Garden Club, 4-H Outdoor Adventures Club, 4-H County Council, 4-H CERT, Sweet Tarts Hawaiian Ice and More, Wakulla County Supervisor of Elections, Florida Department of Health in Wakulla, Wakulla County Fire Cadets, Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners, Friends of the Wakulla Library, Wakulla Sun, Wakulla County Historical Society, Wakulla News, and Visit Wakulla.
