  • AN ODE TO THE ST. MARKS FLY

    Editor, The Sun:

    The Ubiquitous St. Marks fly

    While strolling along Riverside Drive,
My senses were piqued by the St. Marks fly.
    The nearly invisible natty bug,
that drives one mad with her thirst for blood.

    The ubiquitous St. Marks Fly

Although a critter of minuscule size
She bites with a gusto that clearly defines,
Her insatiable lust for ones exposed tidbits
And it makes you crazy when you try to inhibit.

    The ubiquitous St. Marks Fly

    The ubiquitous St. Mark’s Fly

Makes one ask,” What can I buy?”
to kill, maim or otherwise eliminate
the annoying little rascal that we’ve all come to hate.

    The ubiquitous St. Marks Fly
