Ecclesia Outreach Ministry and Community Partners held its 9th annual Unity in the Community recognition ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 9th at the Wakulla County Community Center.
The event was led by Rev. Dr. Renita Allen-Dixon.
The goal is to unite the Community as one body and to encourage our citizens to embrace the unique qualities and natural elements within our borders. Each year, we celebrate those individuals who have demonstrated having a heart for people, who have shown strong leadership, who have a history of giving back to others and our community and who are a continual blessing to others by acts of kindness.
Based on public nomination, Pastor Robert and Gail Jetton received the Giving Back Award, Corey Benedict/DJ Butch received the Acts of Kindness Award, Strong Leadership Award was presented to the Wakulla County Christian Coalition, William (Billy) and Elaine Moore received the Special Recognition Award, James (Tank) Arnett won the Assisting Those In Need Award and the Hyde Park Community Legacy (Bossie Hawkins, Thomas Mitchell and Mae Frances Williams) took home the Heart of Wakulla Award.
Music was presented by Tommy Roberts of Revival Railroad Ministries. The event was filled with prayer and acknowledgements of selflessness and the joy of giving back.
Dr. Amber Jones Williams, presiding host of the event said, “I came to support Pastor Dixon and to see the community come together to recognize people who have taken their time and effort and poured it back into the community for all Wakulla citizens; it is great to focus on them and to focus on the foundation of God and to see that God is in everything.”
Pastor Robert Jetton and wife Gail said, “We are deeply honored and humbled to be recipients of this award. God graciously allowed us to be a part of the community and its only through him and the Christian community that we are able to be vessels to do God’s work.”
Major Ray Johnson of the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office presented the event’s Greetings, and the Opening Prayer was led by Audrey Franklin.
