Tim Ashley and Jim Kenny at the Wildlife Heritage Outdoors festival at the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge on Feb. 3.

Last week, members of Flotilla 12 participated in the WHO Festival at the St Marks National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, Feb. 3.
It is always a good time when we get to share information about the Auxiliary and safe boating. Throughout the day we visit with those in attendance.
The four traditional Auxiliary cornerstone missions are public education, operations, vessel examination, and fellowship. Participating in Public Affairs is a part of our public education mission. Annually, the Auxiliary public education program trains tens of thousands of boaters in seamanship, piloting, rules of the road, and weather, among other topics.
Getting involved in our local community is a great opportunity to also engage in fellowship, make connections and share our knowledge on safe boating.

Thanks to Sherrie, we will always remember safe boating is no accident!

If you would like to learn more about vessel safety checks, please contact Steve Hults, Staff Officer for Vessel Examinations at steve.hults@uscgaux.net.
