This past Saturday, Wakulla Wonderful was cancelled due to dangerous inclement weather. My heart goes out to everyone involved, having had the necessity of cancelling events that I have worked on. Personally, I was looking forward to celebrating the county’s history and its people once again. I guess all we can do is say, ”Next year!”
Now, the push is on for the Woodville Founders Day Festival this coming Saturday (March 16th). The VFD is working hard to have a rousing success, with over 50 vendors signed up, offering all manner of arts, crafts, goods and food from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
There will be a host of historical presenters, including Theater With A Mission, blacksmith Mike “Murph” Murphy, Ms. Judith Stricklin from the Tallahassee Museum, Dr. Richard Blaney and one of his amazing heritage breed horses, Finley’s Brigade, the Colored Troops, Southern Fire native drummers & dancers and and so much more. Please add us to your calendar, and join us in praying for beautiful weather for this event!
Sunday evening, Ed and I joined our friends at the Woodville UMC to enjoy a fantastic hour of gospel music presented by the Harper Family Trio from Moultry, Georgia. Afterwards, we joined in the fellowship hall for a delicious supper of corned beef and cabbage in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. The food was great, the company even better, and you can share in this every second Sunday of the month. Everyone is welcome!
While there, I had the great pleasure of seeing my dear friend Joan Hendrix. It has been awhile, but Joan never changes. She is just as beautiful, inside and out, as she has ever been. We agreed, we are going to set a lunch date to catch up on where life is going now.
Please continue to keep Clem Bunker, Thelma Watts, Faye Sweeney, the Butler family, and Norma Woodcock in your prayers. Also, please remember to pray for the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. Peace is always a worthy request.
