I can’t believe the school year is drawing to a close in little more than two weeks. Seems like it was just beginning yesterday. Now, seniors are preparing with anticipation to turn toward their futures, to move into the next chapter of their lives with joy and excitement. Students of all ages, from every grade, are eagerly awaiting a few weeks off from the “grind” of education. Teachers are hanging on by their fingertips while students fairly vibrate with exhilaration.
I remember how, as a child, I looked forward to summer, which stretched into weeks of long days and star-spangled nights. It seemed as if summer vacation would be endless days of sleeping late and lolling in the shade. It did not include days spent in front of the television or on a device. And, we were NEVER bored!
Be sure to keep your eyes open for children walking, scooting, bike-riding and playing along Wakulla’s byways and highways. There will be more of them out there during the summer. Some will even continue to catch school buses for summer school.
Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Spendler, two of Wakulla’s premier music/band teachers, for an outstanding Spring Concert at Riversprings Middle School last weekend. Mr. Spendler shepherds a Beginning Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and a Jazz Band. All of them perform amazingly and enthusiastically! Be very proud of these students and their music teachers. Then Mr. Spendler turned around and escorted them all to Universal Studios the next day! Don’t you wish you could join the Band?
This coming Sunday evening, Woodville UMC hosts its monthly Second Sunday Sing and Supper at 6 p.m. I highly recommend you join them for this long-time tradition…you will not regret it!
Lorrie Gallamore has returned from a life-long dream trip to Italy, and it was everything she hoped it would be. Don’t be jealous!
Pam Adams’ brother, Scott Causey, is in need of our prayers, as is Sarah Kane, Jimmy Gainey, Janet Collomy, MIke Harrison, and the family of Larry Lee. Mr. Lee has died after a long life of service to the Lord as a pastor and missionary.
