The Wakulla Dance Academy had its annual recital this past weekend, and it seemed half of Wakulla County made the trip to Chiles High School to cheer on all the dancers. This is the 20th year the WDA has worked with young dancers, and it was a great show.
Of course, the Brock family was there to support granddaughter Harper Rodgers as well as many young friends. Over the past few years, we have been able to enjoy and celebrate the growing skills and love of dancing among these sweet girls.
Congrats to Brooke Millender on a spectacular senior performance. After 13 years of instruction, practice and competition, Brooke is a sublime performer. To the many other passionate performers, huge kudos for wowing your audience. It was a great evening for everyone able to attend!
I can’t forget to acknowledge the final presentation, the traditional Dad’s Dance. Performed by a number of the dancers’ fathers, their choreographed offering rocked the house. I salute each of these intrepid gentlemen, devoted dads all, for stepping into the limelight. Thanks for the memories!
Becky Perkins continues to be hospitalized as her doctors run tests. Please keep her in your prayers, along with Clem Bunker as she gains more and more strength following several broken bones following a fall. Also in need of prayers are Thelma Watts, Mary Jane Thornton, Scott Causey, Ed Brown, Tom Lee and Mary Jo Dowling.
Jordan Cooper, just 2 years old, also needs our prayers while he awaits results of many medical tests. Please pray for his doctors’ wisdom on his behalf.
We have officially entered hurricane season, and the Woodville Branch Library has a publication from Leon County on disaster preparedness. Full of excellent advice and resources, I recommend everyone get one for your home.
