This month’s Second Sunday Sing featured the trio Another Journey. They shared an hour of old time gospel music, which was followed by a delicious fellowship supper.
Due to the havoc wrought by the tornado outbreak, May’s Sing was cancelled. This was one of the rare times the Sing had to be suspended (other than the Covid epidemic).

The very first Sing was held on Mother’s Day in 2008, and has been going strong ever since. I highly recommend it to everyone. There is always amazing talent, great food, and wonderful fellowship…all free.
Put next month’s Sing on your calendar, July 14th at 6 p.m. at the Woodville United Methodist Church. Revival Railroad will bring the music, and you are guaranteed a great evening.

I’ve been enjoying my summer reading, and wanted to share my latest read, “Nuclear War: A Scenario.” The book was a Pulitzer Prize Finalist, written by award-winning journalist Annie Jacobsen. You may know her from her previous works, which include “The Pentagon’s Brain” and “Area 51.”
In this, her latest work, Ms. Jacobsen interviews those past, and present, who are closest to the nuclear button. Outlining what is one of the world’s greatest existential threats in deep detail, this book may keep you up at night. But I believe everyone needs to read it.
Documented, entertaining, and often terrifying, it is a quick read about a subject we all need to understand better.

Happy birthday to our youngest child, Emma Smith. May the coming year be the best one yet! Also happy anniversary to Greg Chitwood and his lovely bride.

Please continue to remember Mary Jo Dowling in your prayers, as well as Becky Perkins, Mary Jane Thornton, Scott Causey, Mike Harrison, Jordan Cooper, Thelma Watts, Sarah Kane, Cindy Blackstock, and Clem Bunker, as they all are dealing with health issues.
The Moxley family needs our prayerful support, as does the family of Ed Brown who died unexpectedly.

Now is the time to visit Wakulla Springs on the regular. There is no better place ‘round here to beat the heat! We old timers know for sure how quickly those chilly waters can lower our temperatures. Time to hit the high dive and take the plunge.
