This report is for activity Aug. 9-15:
FRIDAY, AUGUST 9
- Deputies responded to an address on CL Townsend Lane in reference a burglary. Upon arrival they met with Sharilyn Ryals, owner. Ryals said the property is vacant and she discovered the door to the shed has been damaged. Ryals could not identify any property that was missing and could not determine the cost to repair the door. This address has had a reoccurring problem with trespassers and squatters. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 10
- Deputy Heather Will responded to a home on Martin Luther King Memorial Road and made contact with Tommie Webster and Angela Akins, who both stated an unknown person came onto their property and damaged the air conditioning unit and stole their pitbull. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
- Deputy Anthony Paul conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to no tag displayed, which was being operated by Ryan Crews. Upon contact with Crews, he stated the vehicle could not be registered and he was driving it to Pick-N-Pull in order to sell it. It was discovered that Crews was issued a warning for the same violation on July 28, therefore he was placed under arrest for failure to register and transported to the jail.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 11
- Deputy Payton Surrette responded to a home on Autumn Woods Way and made contact with Carole Turner, who stated someone entered her residence and stole an extension cord. Other items in the home were disheveled, but Turner could not tell if anything else was missing. Possible suspects have been identified in this case and this case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
- Deputy Heather Will conducted a traffic stop for no tag displayed. The driver, Mandy Hancock, had been issued a warning for failure to register the same vehicle on July 13. Deputy Will placed Hancock under arrest and transported Hancock to the Wakulla County Jail without incident.
MONDAY, AUGUST 12
- Deputies responded to an address on Coastal Highway in reference to a theft. Contact was made with Freeman Pigott, who stated Randolph Revell and an unknown male were on camera at 2:30 a.m. stealing air conditioning coils from the property. Contact was made with Revell who stated he “only took five of them.” Revell was arrested and transported to Wakulla County Jail without incident. Deputies Kendrick Gavin and Cole Irvin investigated.
- Deputies responded to L M Street in reference to a reported burglary. Contact was made with Mark Price Jr., who said someone had done $20,000 of damage to a new construction home. Multiple juvenile suspects were identified during the investigation who were subsequently located and arrested.
- Deputy Shayne Broxsie responded to the front lobby of the sheriff’s office in reference to a fraud. Contact was made with Angus McEachern, whose bank contacted him to advise a suspect had attempted to cash a check linked to his account, in the amount of $3,976.53. The bank closed the account, and placed a hold on the check. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 13
- Kathy Hartsfield reported receiving a text message from her banking institute advising of a possible fraud. She later received a call from a number showing on caller ID as her bank. After confirming some information, and being walked through steps of what to do she received a onetime password to log into her account. Hartsfield logged into her account as directed. She was told to contact her bank to request a new debit card. Hartsfield reported being out over $2,000. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation. Deputy Norman De Guzman investigated.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 14
- Deputy Ernesto Trujillo responded to a reported theft. Upon arrival Thomas Maddi reported hiring a handyman in the last several weeks and giving a key to his home to this person. Maddi reported miscellaneous items and tools valued at $170 missing from his property. A suspect has been named in this case and it has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 15
- Deputy Payden Surrette responded to Curtis Mill Road and made contact with Thomas Anderson, who stated someone opened a Verizon account in his name without authorization. Anderson stated he had already spoke with a Verizon representative, who stated he only needed a report to have the unauthorized account closed. Anderson did not suffer any monetary loss in this case.
- Deputy Payden Surrette responded to the T-Mobile store in reference to a retail theft which was actively occurring. Once on scene, the suspect, Billie Jo Jones was located locked in the Papa John’s pizza bathroom. Jones was detained and ultimately arrested for an active warrant and the theft.
- Deputy Heather Will responded to the Wakulla County Health Department and made contact with a female victim, who stated she believed a co-worker, Tori Kendall, entered her vehicle and stole some prescription medication of hers. Deputy Will made contact with Kendall, who post-Miranda confessed to the burglary/theft. Kendall was subsequently arrested and transported to the jail.
