Friends, there are times when we are reminded how small this world we live in truly is. Last week, Ed and I found ourselves at the Apalachee Restaurant in Bristol, enjoying the AYCE catfish buffet. Suddenly, in a place where literally NO ONE knows my name, someone called out, “Verna!” Glancing around, I spied two lovely young women from my past, Laura and Ginny Dilworth. Both attended school with my children, but I certainly never dreamed I would run into them more than 50 miles from Wakulla Station. What a delight to see them there!
We had a wonderful performance by the Tallahassee Uke Jammers at the Woodville UMC 2nd Sunday Sing. I hope you make one of their shows soon. For sure, there will be many performances during the holidays, so keep an eye open for one near you.
If you enjoy barbershop quartet music, make plans to attend a concert at the Tallahassee Senior Center (The Old Armory) on North Monroe Street. It will be held on Sept. 19th, at 7 p.m. It promises to be an extravaganza of sweet harmony.
Plans continue for our 180th Anniversary Homecoming at the Wakulla UMC on Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. The Rev. David Gill will be our guest speaker, and we look forward to welcoming him to our pulpit once again. As always, there will be a scrumptious covered dish dinner, so mark your calendars in big, bright red letters!
Ed and I travelled to Sneads this past weekend to celebrate the birthday of our first great-grandchild. Paisley Grace Roshong was feted by friends, family from near and far, and handled all the attention like a pro.
Please keep baby Sophia in your prayers, At six months old she has undergone surgery and now is diagnosed with a blood disorder. The good news is the doctors have been able to find it and begin treatment! Also continue to lift Wayne Pharis in your prayers, as well as Patty Moxley and her family. Becky Perkins , Deborah Giles, and Jesse Mae Gavin need our prayers too.
Sadly, Bubba from the Wakulla Station Circle K passed away last week. His family also covets your prayerful support. Prayer can make a difference, even when words fail us.
Happy birthday wishes this month for Rosa Maria Fay, Alex Hernandez, Pat Dowling, Matt Smith, Eden Rodgers, and Pat Dowling! Hope the coming year is a blessed one.
