FRIDAY, AUGUST 16
- Wakulla Jail Staff reported Rontarius Pendelton damaging a computer screen during the booking process. Pendelton got upset with his mother during a phone conversation and took his frustration out on equipment. Deputies responded and arrested Pendelton for Criminal Mischief.
- Deputy John Dill responded to Otter Lake reference a four-wheeler on fire. Contact was made with Andrew Keith, who said he was riding his four-wheeler when it started smoking and caught fire. Wakulla County Fire Rescue responded to the scene as well.
- Deputy Zach Godwin responded to Rocky’s, where employees advised a white male had stolen several Penn fishing rods valued at $1,700. The suspect was observed on security footage gathering all the rods in one location before fleeing with them. Rocky’s was unable to provide a vehicle description. The vehicle was later stopped by FHP and the suspect was identified as Victor Sams, who was arrested for grand theft and transported to the Wakulla County Jail.
- Deputies William Buckhalt and Kory Smith conducted a stop on a bicycle for an infraction. The suspect provided deputies with a false identification. Eventually they were able to obtain his name as Jon Bean, who has two outstanding warrants out of Virgina and had previous charges for providing false ID to law enforcement. Bean was taken into custody and was found in possession of 2grams of methamphetamine and was charged with it as well.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 17
- David Humphries reported a 1977 Chrysler 6 hp marine boat motor stolen. He had reported three suspicious people in the neighborhood the day before. The motor was estimated at $750. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
- Deputy Cole Irvin and Sgt. Edward Webb stopped a vehicle for excessive speed. Contact was made with the driver Charles Switalski. During the traffic stop an open bottle of vodka was observed on the passenger floorboard. After field sobriety exercises Switalski begin to walk into the road away from deputies. As Deputy Irvin placed Switalski’s hands behind his back and began to walk him towards Deputy Williams, he kicked Williams in the outer thigh. Irvin immediately redirected Switalski to the ground. Charles begins to fight deputies, slapping Deputy Irvin in the face. Deputies were able to restrain Charles and get him into handcuffs. Once in the rear of a patrol vehicle Charles slipped his cuffs and began to kick the passenger rear door of the patrol vehicle, knocking it out of alignment. Charles also used the cuffs to punch the plexiglass partition damaging it. Once at the jail, Charles thrusted the door open and attempted to lunge out as Deputy Irvin was opening it. The door struck Deputy Smith in the process. Charles was redirected to the ground and was restrained. Charles Switalski was turned over to jail staff and charged with DUI, Resisting Arrest with Violence, Battery on Law Enforcement, and Criminal Mischief.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 18
- Deputy Godwin made contact with a suspicious vehicle parked at Pizza Hut after closing. Contact was made the driver Gurant Singh. During the investigation it was determined Singh had never been issued a driver license. Gurant was placed under arrest and transported to the jail.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 20
- Vito Knowles advised his store, Extract Shack, was burglarized around 3 a.m. Knowles had footage of the suspect stealing multiple pieces of merchandise. On-call detectives and Crime Scene responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 22
- Deputies responded to FSU Credit Union for an intoxicated client. Upon arrival Charlotte Justice was observed at the entrance to FSU Credit Union parked at the stop sign. A bank teller had stopped her from entering onto Crawfordville Highway into vehicle traffic. Further investigation revealed, Justice was intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle. Justice also had a suspended license for a prior DUI. Justice was placed under arrest and transported to WCSO Jail Facility without incident.
