By the time you read this, we will be staring down another hurricane. Most of us are old hands with these storms, but that doesn’t make them any less disruptive or destructive. Praying this one will literally blow over with as little impact as possible.
Believe it or not, the Panacea Blue Crab Festival is THIS WEEKEND! There will be a free Gospel Sing on Friday evening, at 6:30 in Woolley Park. Make plans to be in the parade at 10 a.m., and enjoy the food, music and vendors this coming Saturday.
There is a $2 entrance fee, but children under 12 are free. After a day full of friends, family fun, food and entertainment, there will be a fireworks show at 8:15 (dark). Be sure to visit Panacea this weekend!
October 10th and 11th there will be a special program hosted by FSU, with poet and activist Nikki Giovanni, and Fred Moten. It is free and open to the public, and will explore our society, its changes, and where we need to go next. All the information is posted online, “Going to Mars With Nikki Giovanni and Fred Moten.”
Plans continue for the 180th homecoming celebration at the Wakulla United Methodist Church.
Services begin on October 6th at 10 a.m., followed by a covered-dish dinner at 11. We invite all our members and friends to join us for this special day.
I’m pleased to share updates to our prayer requests. Baby Sophia is gaining strength, recovering well from her surgery and medical treatment; Angel Smith’s father, Wayne, continues to weather his cancer treatments well; Clem Bunker is gaining strength in her recovery from several fractures from a fall: Patty Moxley is feeling better also.
Your prayers continue to make a difference! Please lift Mary Jane Thornton in your prayers, as well as Becky Perkins, Thelma Watts, Deborah Giles, and the family of Brett Nicholson, a friend of many WHS 2000-01 graduates. Brett tragically died in a house fire in Texas.
