Gregg Stanton memory.
I first met Gregg in 1976. I was a graduate student at FSU, and had been in the 1972 SITS program. Gregg was in the 1974 SITS program at Panama City.
This audacious young man had the chutzpah to run his own SITS program at FSU in 1976 and then again in 2000 in Panama City, closely mirroring the University and Navy programs. With nowhere near the original resources available, but with the help of the US Naval Diving & Salvage Training Center in Panama City, he trained a new generation of science divers. He even had them experience saturation diving!
Later, he expanded his leadership and teaching at FSU in Panama City.
We were good friends for decades. Honestly, it is a rare occasion when you meet someone as dedicated to diving safety and education as Gregg.
In addition to all of that, he was a great man and a caring husband and father.
I will always miss our phone calls, with him invariably full of excitement and dreams.
