Here we go again. Another storm in the gulf, headed straight for the west coast, “predicted” to slam the Tampa-St. Pete area again. I can’t imagine the anxiety levels at this point. Please keep the whole state in your prayers.

The Homecoming celebration at the Wakulla United Methodist Church was such a blessing! Many thanks to the Rev. David Gill for participating as our guest speaker. Thanks also to Jennifer Brown and her friend, Carolyn, for the flute duet. Believe me, when we sing “The Church in the Wildwood” it is heartfelt.

One of our visitors was Janie Thurmond (Mrs. Harold Thurmond), who shared that her three times Great-Uncle Enoch Giles was the first appointed pastor at our 180-year-old congregation. A former Confederate chaplain, he managed a large charge that included Sopchoppy, Crawfordville and Wakulla churches. This was back in the days of circuit riding preachers, who fervently carried the Gospel as far and wide as they could. Another interesting fact shared is our church was officially established one day before the State of Florida, making the congregation older than state!

Don’t forget this Saturday there will be a fish fry at the Woodville UMC I believe it begins at 11 a.m. and goes to 1 p.m. The next day is Second Sunday, and there will be a sing at 6 p.m., followed by a delicious fellowship supper. Everything is free and open to the public, so come join us!

Mail-in ballots have started to arrive, and election day is less than a month away. What a great blessing, and responsibility, to exercise our greatest secular sacrament, voting.
No matter who or what you support, be sure to join the nation in making your voice heard. It is a great thing to be able to do so, and one vote can literally make the difference.

Your prayers for the sick and suffering are deeply appreciated. Johnny Morris Jr., Margie Harper, Pastor Tommy Stone, Sue Beard, Mollie Claire Stephens, Isabelle Hernandez, Becky Perkins, and Wayne Pharis all have health issues and covet our prayerful support.
