FWMA’s masquerade ball fundraiser will be held Saturday night

Editor, The Sun:

Wakulla County is incredibly fortunate to have a wildlife rescue center located here. Florida Wild Mammal Association (FWMA) was established in 1994 by Chris and Mike Beatty as a clinic where injured and orphaned wild animals can receive care and medical treatment. Over 20,000 wild mammals and birds have been rescued, and most were successfully rehabilitated for release.
FWMA is a charitable organization with a small animal care staff but relies on the kindness of volunteers to help gather donations. I met Chris 13 years ago when her volunteer grantwriter could no longer serve. She handed me a box full of files with deadlines looming. It was impossible to say No when she asked for your help while bottle feeding a baby deer, and both are looking at you…
The Beatty family history and legacy of animal welfare continues to inspire me, including their daughter Jessica who is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator with a lifetime of experience and now runs the center. FWMA could not exist without generous support from our community and many challenges lie ahead.
Florida Wild Mammal Association is hosting its second annual Feathers and Fur Masquerade Ball this coming Saturday, October 26th at Sherlock Springs in Crawfordville. This event will be a great chance for you to dress to impress and have a fun night of eating, dancing, and bidding on some stunning silent auction items. Tickets are limited to only 100 guests, so please buy yours today before they sell out!
Tickets can be purchased at FWMA directly located at 198 Edgar Poole Road, or from The Garden Center by Gatortrax at 3215 Crawfordville Highway. For more information, please see our event page on Facebook or call us at 850-363-1032.
