By the time you read this, our great national exercise in Democracy should be drawn to a close. I, for one, have never welcomed the end of an election season more.
Vaya con Dios, dasvidaniya, go with God political commercials, commentaries, earnest talking heads. We collectively are ready for a long break from it all!
No matter what the outcomes, about half of us will be disappointed or worse. But (hopefully) the world will spin on, and life will continue as we know it. Can’t wait.

I am very excited to tell you Wakulla Station will soon have a new Spa/Salon. Boy! Are we up-town or what? Salty Roots, formerly of Woodville, will soon host its grand opening, offering hair, skin, nails and tanning services. Located across from Savannah’s Buffet on the Woodville Highway, the Salon is in the building that once housed a pharmacy, and then a real estate business. I saw the new sign, and couldn’t resist stopping in at the end of October. It was so fun to get a tour, to hear all about the new venture, and to meet the ladies working to transform the space into a luxurious pamper palace. Expect more updates as the process progresses.

Heartfelt thanks to all our neighbors who have donated funds and items to the disaster relief drive at the Wakulla United Methodist Church. Let me tell you, you all have the biggest hearts for those who are struggling with devastation wrought by multiple storms! We, among many others, have been blessed to provide relief to Florida and our neighbors in North Carolina and other neighbors to the north. We continue to fill Flood Buckets, among other efforts, which contain all manner of specified items proven to be most useful.

This Thursday the Coastal Optimist Club is welcoming special guest speaker Amanda Pache in Myra Jean’s meeting room, at noon. Ms. Pache has started a new business venture, based on an unique business model. Called “Skip the Line Clinic,” the concept is to help folks get medical help quicker and easier.

I want to wish happy birthday wishes to Jim Lee, George Dock, and Angel Smith who all have birthdays this month.

Be sure to put Sunday, Nov. 10th, 6 p.m., on your calendar. It’s time for Woodville UMC’s Second Sunday Sing! A delicious fellowship supper follows the concert, and everything is free and open to the public.

The Panacea Blue Crab Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16th. Parade entrants are welcome, and need only to contact the Coastal Optimist Club to be assigned a spot in the parade lineup. After being postponed due to hurricane precautions, the Festival is ready and raring to go. Y’all come!

It feels as though the holiday season has simply burst upon us. Perhaps because we spent too many weeks anticipating, preparing for, dreading, and fleeing so many storms this year, it seems Thanksgiving has ambushed us! Not to mention, Christmas follows a little less than four weeks later.

Be sure to put the first Saturday of December on your calendar if you like homemade goodies and gifts. The women of the Wakulla UMC will have their annual Christmas Bazaar, complete with a raffle for a beautiful quilt.

As always, I ask you to lift the following people in your prayers: Linda Whitney, Jan Girvin and her caregivers, Anna Lee Grant, Woodville 1st Baptist Pastor Tommy Stone, Sue Beard, Molly Claire Stephens awaiting a liver transplant, toddler Sammy Pruitt who remains in critical condition, Clem Bunker, and Becky Perkins.
