ROBYN HURST REMEMBERED
A memorial service was held at the community center on Monday, June 12, for library director Robyn Hurst, who died in May at her home in Thomasville, Ga. Her “library family” at the Wakulla County Public Library recalled her for her creativity, her leadership and her friendship. Some of her creativity can be seen on the altar above: the R2D2 robot, and the chicken stroller – which the librarians put real chickens in for a parade walk. The Wakulla library is, after all, the “Library with the chickens” because of Robyn. She started numerous projects that brought in library patrons, including the Halloween Storywalk that brings thousands of residents to the park, to the Mardi Gras Ball fundraiser.
