This report represents some events the FWC handled March 15-21 in the Northwest Region. (No cases were reported in Wakulla County)

FRANKLIN COUNTY

  • Officer Sizemore conducted a resource inspection on a vessel with four individuals coming into the boat ramp on St. George Island. The officer located three undersized black drum and two undersized redfish. Officer Sizemore issued citations accordingly.

GULF COUNTY

  • Master Officer M. Webb and Lieutenant Guy responded to a search and rescue on St. Joe Bay involving two individuals on kayaks. Strong winds and seas had swept the two out, and they were unable to make their way back. The officers located the individuals and brought them on board the patrol vessel, including their watercraft. The individuals were unharmed from the experience and didn’t need medical attention.

HOLMES COUNTY

  • Senior Officer E. Fowler and Officer J. Touchton attended the West Pittman Creek Church Wild Game Dinner. There were approximately 300 people in attendance and the officers were able to answer numerous questions related to chronic wasting disease (CWD) and other wildlife related issues.
  • Senior Officer E. Fowler and Officer J. Touchton were patrolling two bait sites on private property. The officers observed individuals hunt wild turkey within 100 yards of the bait. The appropriate citations were issued.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

  • Lieutenant W. Walsingham was patrolling a wild turkey bait site on private property that he had located earlier. Two individuals were observed hunting within 100 yards of the bait. The appropriate citations were issued.
