FRIday, MARCH 6
- A traffic stop was conducted for tag attached not assigned. Further investigation revealed the driver had multiple suspensions and was deemed a habitual offender. The subject advised the car was his mom’s and he did not know it had the wrong tag. He was placed under arrest and transported to the jail.
- Deputy Austin Rivers responded to Walmart in reference to Loss Prevention stating that a subject passed all points of sale without paying for $68 worth of items. After viewing video footage, probable cause existed to charge this subject with petit theft. The subject was issued a Notice to Appear and a Trespass Warning and left the scene without any further incident.
SATURday, MARCH 7
- Deputy Zachary Godwin conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired registration. Contact was made with the occupants of the vehicle and probable cause was developed to search the vehicle. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, a small amount of marijuana was found and seized for destruction.
SUNday, MARCH 8
- A citizen reported the theft of jewelry from her home. She believes personnel with a cleaning company out of Tallahassee is responsible for the theft, but has no proof. She is unsure at this time if she wants to press charges.
- Deputy Zachary Godwin and Deputy Aimee Hoagland responded to the 200 block of Hilliardville Road in reference to citizens reporting that two unknown vehicles were on the property without permission. The reporting person stated he captured the vehicles and suspects on his game camera that was then stolen by the suspects. Through investigative measures, two possible suspects were identified in this case as well as the suspect vehicles that were used to commit the theft.
MONday, MARCH 9
- A citizen came into the Sheriff’s Office lobby to report a stolen vehicle. Contact was made with the victim, who advised he let his nephew borrow a vehicle two weeks ago and he has yet to return it. Further investigation revealed he has reached out to the subject via phone on numerous occasions with no response. Based on this a warrant request will be sought after.
- Lt. Michael Alexander conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 800 block of Spring Creek Highway for unlawful speed. Contact was made with the driver who advised she was traveling from Marietta to Shell Point and was tired. Upon further investigation, she admitted to consuming a beer earlier in the evening. Due to the statement and the slurring of her words, a DUI investigation was conducted. She refused to submit to field sobriety tests, however, her breath test indicated she was over the legal limit upon her arrival at the Wakulla County Jail. She was subsequently charged with DUI.
TUESday, MARCH 10
- Deputy Jonathan Kilbourn responded to Walmart in reference to a theft. A male and female were observed passing the final point of sale with $110.44 of unpaid merchandise.
WEDNESday,
MARCH 11
- A subject was observed operating a vehicle who is known by deputies not to have a valid license which was confirmed by dispatch. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the jail.
- Deputy Ian Kilbourn responded to the 1600 block of Coastal Highway in reference to a subject vandalizing the residence owned by the reporting party. Due to conflicting statements, probable cause could not be established for an arrest.
THURSday, MARCH 12
- A citizen in the 300 block of Otter Creek Road called in reference to a found property complaint. Contact was made with the reporting person, who discovered a wallet in the roadway of Highway 319. The owner of the property appears to reside in Leon County. The property was impounded for safekeeping.
FRIday, MARCH 13
- Contact was made with Walmart Asset Protection, who advised they observed a white female failing to scan multiple items at the self-checkout area. The suspect was observed placing multiple unscanned items inside her grocery bags via surveillance video. She was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Wakulla County Jail.
