Sheriff’s Report

This report is for activity April 17 to 24. There were 1,398 total calls for service during the week; 19 arrests; 105 traffic stops.

FRIday, APRIL 17

  • Deputy Lewis Marshall responded to the front lobby and made contact with a citizen who stated during February 2020, he began assisting homeless individuals he had met via Facebook. Since this time, he has provided funds to an alleged bail bondsman at her request and has never been repaid. He stated he has freely provided funds on several other occasions and stated he does not expect to be repaid. Case forwarded to Criminal Investigation Division.

SATURday, APRIL 18

  • Deputy Jeremy Martin responded to Sparrow Path and made contact with a citizen who believes the Amazon delivery driver may have stolen his Lowes package from the front porch while delivering an Amazon package. He stated he sustained a total loss of $36. He uploaded surveillance video via a community link. Case forwarded to CID.
  • Deputy Ian Kilbourn responded to Walmart and made contact with Asset Protection who stated an unknown male passed the last point of sale with approximately $50 in merchandise. The suspect re-entered the store, returned the items and obtained a gift card with $50 on it. Case forwarded to CID.
  • Deputy Ian Kilbourn responded to Walmart and made contact with Asset Protection who stated an employee passed the last point of sale with approximately $7 in merchandise. Case forwarded to CID.

SUNday, APRIL 19

  • Deputy Lewis Marshall responded to 1obby of the sheriff’s office in reference to a fraud. Contact was made with a citizen, who advised the following information. On Nov. 16, she purchased a ZBEE Electric Bicycle from DCR Harvest LLC. for $3,825.00. She has yet to receive the electric bicycle, and has made numerous attempts to reach out to the company with no success. See report for further information. Case forwarded to CID.
  • Deputy Ian Kilbourn conducted a traffic stop in the area of Tiger Hammock Road and Shadeville Road on a vehicle for the tag attached not being assigned to the vehicle. Contact was made with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. During the traffic stop, the odor of marijuana came from within the vehicle and the driver advised she did not possess a medical marijuana card. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted resulting in a seizure of 4.9 grams of suspected marijuana along with other miscellaneous paraphernalia items.
  • Deputy Dustin Saba responded to Catawba Trail in reference to a possible stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was with the reporting person. He advised on April 18 he gave permission to a female he knew to borrow his pickup truck. He stated She was only supposed to travel a nearby gas station and come directly back, in which she failed to do. He advised his cell phone along with his wallet were in his vehicle during the time of this incident. He filled out an Affidavit for Non-Prosecution, and wished to personally search for his vehicle at a later time.

MONday, APRIL 20

  • Deputy Lexi Kreitlow responded to Northwood Road in reference to a suspicious incident. Contact was made with the reporting person who advised he observed an unknown vehicle possibly accessing the Wakulla Springs State Park via his property. The vehicle was located in the area near the park unoccupied. The reporting person also advised someone appeared to have damaged a fence located on the eastern corner of the parkto gain access to the hunting grounds. This information was forwarded to FWC.
  • Deputy Dylan Buckhalt conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2600 block of Coastal Highway for tag attached not assigned. Dispatch received a notification from Tallahassee Police Department in reference to the incident shortly before the vehicle was located. Contact was made with the driver whose license was confirmed suspended at the time of the stop and he was subsequently arrested for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (DWLSR). The stolen tag was removed from the vehicle and Quality Wrecker responded to remove the vehicle. The driver was transported to the Wakulla County Jail without further incident.

TUESday, APRIL 21

  • Deputy Jonathan Kilbourn responded to Powhatan Street in reference to a vehicle theft. Contact was made with the reporting person whom advised someone stole $150 from her vehicle. The vehicle’s window was broken and there were no door handles. Based on the lack of evidence coupled with no witnesses or video surveillance footage this case has been closed with the option to reopen if any new information is obtained.
  • Deputy Jonathan Kilbourn responded to the front lobby making contact with a citizen who advised he was contacted by a male who said he won the Publishers Clearing House prize but needed a $200 gift card first. Subsequently, the victim is out $200. Case forwarded to CID.
  • Deputy Kory Smith responded to Walmart in reference to a retail theft. According Asset Protection a female (possibly identified), failed to scan multiple items then passed the last point of sale with $74 of unpaid merchandise.
  • Deputy Kittrell responded to the 80 block of Coastal Hwy in reference to a fence on fire. The fence was located behind Two Blondes liquors. The estimated value is $2,000. Wakulla Fire Rescue responded swiftly, extinguishing the fire.

WEdnesday,
APRIL 22

  • A subject who is known by deputies not to have a valid license was observed operating a motor vehicle. This same subject was arrested last week for DWLSR. He was taken into custody and transported to the Wakulla County Jail.
  • A subject reported the theft of two credit cards. These cards were used in several stores in Thomasville, Ga. The victim believes the cards might have been stolen while at work in Franklin County, but is unsure.
  • Deputy Austin Rivers conducted a traffic stop for an expired tag. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for DWLSR with knowledge. Upon inventorying the vehicle, suspected meth was located. In addition, the driver and passenger were placed under arrest for a Wakulla Failure to Appear warrant. Upon a search of the passenger, suspected meth was located on her person. Both subjects were transported to the Wakulla County Jail without incident.

THURSday, APRIL 23

  • Deputy Ian Kilbourn responded to Milestone Trail and made contact with two citizens who stated while walking with their dog, a stray dog came and attacked them. One of the reporting parties sustained a minor bite wound to the thigh. Animal Control Officers responded to the scene.

FRIday, APRIL 24

  • Deputy Jackson Kittrell responded to Walmart in reference to Asset Protection reporting a theft that occurred on March 20. They advised due to a recent report, she discovered other incidents of theft and a suspect was identified. Asset Prorection stated the subject walked past all final points of sale failing to pay for $25.32 worth of merchandise. Case forwarded to CID.
  • Deputy Lexi Kreitlow responded to Otter Lake Road in reference to a burglary complaint. Contact was made with the reporting party, who advised a subject known to him entered his residence while he was at work and removed his 6×10 inch speaker. He advised the speaker is valued at $50. There were no witnesses to the incident and no surveillance video available at this time.
