FRIday, JUNE 26
- Deputy Jonathan Kilbourn responded to the 1000 block of Wakulla Arran Road due to a citizen calling in advising animal carcasses were dumped in the area. Deputy Kilbourn arrived on scene and took photographs of the carcasses and Animal Control responded to take a report.
- A contractor for the power company reported a construction trailer had been burglarized in the 100 block of Railroad Avenue. A variety of tools were stolen valued at approximately $2,531. Case forwarded to Criminal Investigations Division.
SATURday, JUNE 27
- Deputy Zachary Godwin conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to an expired registration. Contact was made with the driver David Banegas, who was discovered not to have a valid license. Banegas was placed under arrest and transported to the jail facility.
- Walmart Asset Protection reported a delayed theft. The suspect passed all points of sale with unpaid merchandise. Taken was an I-Phone 17 Pro Max valued at $1,249.
SUNday, JUNE 28
- Deputy Shawn Joens responded to Harry Morrison Road in reference to a citizen reporting damage to his cable wires. Due to no witnesses or video footage, this case will be closed until further information becomes available.
MONday, JUNE 29
- Deputy Jonathan Kilbourn responded to the 2900 block of Crawfordville Highway and made contact with the reporting person, who stated when he arrived to work this morning, he noticed multiple American flags damaged on his fence line. During the investigation he was unsure who might have caused the damage. No camera footage was able to be obtained. He wished to pursue criminal charges for criminal mischief for $25 worth of damaged American flags.
- The manager at Dux Liquors reported someone taking $300 from an employee’s purse on June 27. She was able to playback security camera footage of this incident and it appeared to be a friend of hers who took the cash from the purse on three separate occasions while sitting at the table with her. Due to not being able to positively identify the person in the footage, this incident report will be forwarded to CID.
TUESday, JUNE 30
- A citizen reported his exterior garage on fire. He advised hearing a loud boom and his dogs going crazy. Upon checking the property, he observed black smoke coming from the garage. Once Wakulla Fire Rescue arrived, he advised he kept two custom motorcycles and two custom SUVs in the garage. Upon extinguishing the fire, it was determined the fire was caused by a battery charger plugged into the custom Harley Davidson motorcycle. The estimated damage caused by the fire was $126,000. He could not provide the insurance information at the time of this report.
WEDNESday, JUly 1
- A citizen reported being scammed out of $8,400. He advised a subject pretending to be with the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office notified him he had had active warrants for missed jury duty. He made two transactions via Bitcoin and cash app for $8,400. Case forwarded to CID.
- Deputy Aimee Love responded to Spring Creek Road and Reservation Court to take a report. Upon arrival, the reporting party stated he had recently purchased a motorhome and was driving it home when the exhaust overheated, causing a fire. The motorhome was a total loss, with a value of $4,500.
- A citizen reported her vehicle had been burglarized. Items taken include her purse along with cash and her CashApp card. The card was used at a Marathon in Tallahassee. Case forwarded to CID.
- A citizen reported receiving a call from the fraud department of her bank and was instructed to withdraw $7,000. She further stated an unknown subject pretending to be with her bank showed up at her residence and was instructed to hand over the money. Case forwarded to CID.
- A citizen reported her cell phone as stolen. She stated she accidently left the phone on her hood. The phone was tracked by them to Shadeville Road, but not located. The phone was valued at approximately $400. The phone was entered into NCIC/FCIC. Case forwarded CID.
THURSday, JUly 2
- A citizen reported someone stealing a package containing two T-shirts from his front porch, which were valued at $40. There was no surveillance or suspect information.
- Deputy Dustin Saba was conducting a sex offender address verification when he discovered Lucas Kanitz possibly having a vehicle registered to him which had not been disclosed.
FRIday, JUly 3
- Deputy Jonathan Kilbourn responded to Walmart in reference to an active theft. Contact was made with Asset Protection who advised the suspect Danielle Dyal had just left the parking lot. While Deputy Kilbourn was speaking with Asset Protection, Deputy Jackson Kittrell located the suspect at a separate location. Danielle Dyal was detained until the arrival of Deputy Kilbourn, who then made contact with Dyal and confirmed her identity. She was in possession of the stolen items which were seized and returned to Walmart. Dyal was issued an Notice To Appear and released from the scene.
- Deputy Kory Smith responded to Graham Trail in reference to a burglary. Contact was made with the reporting party at a separate location who advised while at home, someone known to her had come in to her residence uninvited and began a verbal altercation regarding her going on vacation. During the altercation she managed to separate herself from him and leave to a friend’s house. She advised he destroyed the residence and she was unsure of his location. Images were taken of the residence and the minor injuries sustained during this incident. Case forwarded to CID.
- A citizen reported fraudulent activity on her USAA Bank card. She notified USAA and froze the account as well as the bank card. A total of two transactions were made in the State of Ohio by an unknown person(s). She advised the transactions totaled $1,000. USAA advised her to file a report with local law enforcement agency to help aid the bank with their investigation.
