Sheriff’s Report is for activity July 17 to 24. There were 1,455 total calls for service.

FRIday, JULY 17

  • An employee with Inframark reported a Buck Fuel Tank with pump and $300 in diesel fuel taken from the Wastewater Treatment Plant on Lawhon Mill Road. The employee who reported the theft suspects a current employee of the plant (unnamed) may have taken the tank and fuel. The only camera which could have captured this incident is currently not working due to a lightning strike. The estimated cost of the items taken was valued at $1,300.

SATURday, JULY 18

  • A citizen reported a tree from his backyard falling onto his neighbor’s car. Upon arrival, deputies observed the fallen tree laying across his privacy fence and on top of his neighbor’s car. The neighbor was not home at the time of contact but did call in to the sheriff’s office to speak with the responding deputy. An agreement has been made between the two parties to have the tree removed on Tuesday after the insurance adjuster comes out. The vehicle was not being driven and had been parked due to health reasons.
  • Deputy Kory Smith responded to Fallwood Lane in reference to a theft of a Snapper Lawn mower. Deputy Smith made contact with the victim who advised he noticed his lawn mower was missing on today’s date. He advised he last seen the mower on July 17 at approximately 5 p.m. Deputy Smith was informed he believed his neighbor was involved. With this information Deputy Smith went to the address to make contact. When he arrived, Andrew Baxley ran inside the residence at the sight of law enforcement. Eventually Baxley came outside to speak with Deputy Smith and made the statement “Did the guy on camera look like me?” to Deputy Smith. The value of the lawn mower is $1000. Case forwarded to Criminal Investigations Division.

SUNday, JULY 19

  • A citizen reported loaning her Lexus SUV to Mohamed Diane on July 18. She advised Diane had not returned her vehicle as agreed upon. Further investigation revealed, Diane had contacted Payless Towing in Leon County to come tow the vehicle back to her residence in Wakulla. Tallahassee Police were sent to Arkansas Street in Tallahassee and located the vehicle. Diane was not with the vehicle. TPD advised they will be towing the vehicle using a rotation tow service and would reach out to the reporting person and advise what company towed the vehicle.
  • A citizen reported being scammed out of $1,480. He responded to an advertisement of a home for rent on Facebook Marketplace with the listing being at Mohawk Trail. Prior to moving in, he requested his deposit back (1st month rent) and this is when the “Realtor” (Jakavious Hamilton) asked for additional funds from the victim.

MONday, JULY 20

  • Deputy Moen responded to NT Smith Road and made contact with the reporting person, who stated his vehicle was entered and a remote starter kit was stolen, along with his key fob being damaged. He believed his sisterto be the suspect. Contact was made with the sister, who stated she was in Old Town, Florida, picking up a vehicle during the timeframe the vehicle was burglarized. This case was closed until further information becomes available.

TUESday, JULY 21

  • Deputy Dustin Saba and Sgt. Wade Wright responded to Woodland Drive to assist State Probation with the arrest and transport of Kelwin Rosier to the county jail.
  • Deputy Arturo Cordoba conducted a traffic stop on Daniel Spencer for a traffic violation. Spencer admitted to knowing his license was suspended and he was transported to the county jail.
  • A citizen reported a delayed burglary to her shed with the theft of approximately $20,000 worth of tools. She identified a possible suspect. Case forwarded to CID.
  • Deputy Joens responded to Whiddon Lake Road in reference to a citizen reporting his wallet being left at BodyTek. The wallet was later found to have pinged at a restaurant in Tallahassee. He wished for this case to be documented for informational purposes.
  • Deputy Moen and Deputy Godwin responded to the front lobby of the Sheriff’s Office and made contact with a citizen who reported being scammed out of $4,000. He stated he received a call from someone stating they were with the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office and that he missed jury duty. He was then told to send the funds in order to take care of his warrant for not showing up. He proceeded to send the funds through Apple Pay. Case forwarded to CID.

JULY 22

  • Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to stop at a designated stop on Martin Luther King Memorial Drive. Upon contact with the driver, the odor associated with burnt marijuana was detected. A user amount of marijuana was seized and submitted into Property & Evidence for destruction.
  • A citizen reported unknown individuals dumping yard debris on a property he manages. This incident occurred on July 21 at 7:16 p.m. He was provided with an Axon link to upload video footage of this incident.
  • Deputies conducted a traffic stop after deputies received a report of a road rage incident on U.S. Hwy. 319 southbound. Upon contact with both vehicles, the odor associated with burnt marijuana was detected emitting from the suspect vehicle. A user amount of marijuana was seized and submitted into Property & Evidence for destruction.

THURSday, JULY 23

  • A citizen reported returning to his residence at Mary Ann Drive and finding his home in shambles. Further investigation revealed multiple items had been stolen from the residence while he was away. WCSO Crime Scene and On-Call CID responded to process the scene.
  • A citizen reported getting a suspicious phone call informing her she was being investigated. The caller identified himself as “Ben Wood” and asked for her bank account information to help aid in his investigation into her. She felt she was being scammed and disconnected the line. She is not out of any funds at this time and simply wanted to report this incident to WCSO.

FRIday, JULY 24

  • Deputy Aimee Love responded to Renee Street in reference to State Probation requesting assistance due to them locating narcotics on a residence search. Ultimately the female subject was placed under arrest by State Probation and transported to the county jail.
  • Deputy Dustin Saba responded to Arden Drive in reference to a citizen reporting being scammed out of $8,334 from someone claiming to be Wells Fargo. Case forwarded to CID.
