Wakulla High School’s Breonne Murray and 44 students with 8 educations will soon head to National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel, thanks to a grant from the American Battlefield Trust’s History Field Trip Grant Program.

The Florida Senate on Wednesday passed a suite of bills aimed at “deregulation” of public schools, with one measure undergoing a significant change that nixed a provision related to the state’s third-grade literacy policy after it was heavily criticized by former Gov. Jeb Bush.

To celebrate Florida Arbor Day, a drive-thru tree giveaway will take place on Saturday, Jan. 20th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The giveaway will be outside the Wakulla County Extension Office at 84 Cedar Ave. Each vehicle will receive two young trees in pots for free.
