Fatal deer disease limited to one case

After a deer killed in June in Holmes County tested positive for a contagious fatal disease, it remains the only detected case in the state, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Executive Director Roger Young said Wednesday.

Fiscally constrained distribution up

The Florida Department of Revenue recently announced Wakulla County is receiving $2,006,736 in Fiscally Constrained County funds in 2024. This is a $625,529 increase from the $1,381,207 received in 2023. Why is Wakulla receiving this money from the State of Florida and why did it increase?

Denim and Diamonds Gala, Wakulla Christian School’s first ever Parent Teacher Organization fundraising event was held on Friday, Feb. 23 at the Wakulla Community Center. The event was held in effort to raise funds to expand the school’s campus.

Business owner arrested for fraud in two counties

In a joint effort, detectives of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office have successfully apprehended 48-year-old Charles Allen, the owner of Tallahassee Mobile RV Repair, following extensive investigations into fraudulent activities impacting multiple local citizens.

Christian coalition honors achievement in medicine at gala; other weekend events

Celebrated at the banquet were Wakulla natives Dr. Carol Broxton, RN Vanessa Allen Dickey, RN Stephanie Jackson-Sanders, Dr. NaQuita Jackson Nelson, and keynote speaker Dr. Krystal Franklin. Pharmacist Rita Louise Hughes was unable to attend.

The Wakulla County Christian’ Coalition’s annual Arthur Lee Andrews’ scholarship gala was packed on Saturday night at the community center, with an estimated 160 guests in attendance for the event to honor local women achievers working in medicine.
