It has been cold in Sopchoppy! Brr!
I’m glad I live in Florida. I don’t think I could take too much of this weather. I brought all the plants inside. I hope y’all did too. It got to freezing temperatures lately. I’m ready for it to warm up.
I will be featured on WTXL-27 along side the amazing artists Rachell Mathis and Sammy Tedder. The story is ART from Sopchoppy! I mentioned in a recent interview about the amount of art that Sopchoppy produces for such a small area. It has been this way for many years. This sparked the “Art from Sopchoppy” story. Rachell has done the worm grunting art in the past. She also has painted the beautiful signs for 4-H. Her paintings are absolutely amazing.
Sammy has an unreal resume too. He has worked with Tom T. Hall, the legendary country singer who recorded in Sopchoppy. He has also worked with other big projects like soundtracks for PBS. He makes native American flutes and plays them. He also just finished a movie called “River Obscura: Secrets of a Blackwater River.” He shot the movie and made the soundtrack. Sopchoppy art! I love it! I hope to work with him in the future. He is extremely talented. Like I said… Sopchoppy is full of talent. So many different artists. Is it the rivers? Is it the land? Is it the plants or air? Is it the vibe? I think it is everything! Sopchoppy is special!
I visited Mr. Fred at Mclendon Auto Service in Sopchoppy. I had a couple of tire issues. Mr. Fred did a great job taking care of my vehicle. I highly recommend his business. They are honest, good people.
I had another TikTok video get a lot of views. It went over 700K views. My followers are growing too. If you didn’t know I went viral several times grunting worms. Yes, the Sopchoppy tradition. I have two videos with over 7 million views. People love our worm grunting history. My Facebook is growing too. I’m so excited about growing all these platforms. I’m from Sopchoppy y’all. A population less than 500. Watching this many views is amazing to me. We are blessed.
The City Board meeting is coming up. I heard they are talking about the historic school property at the meeting. Y’all know how I love that school property! That is our history and must be protected. My mother went to high school there, I went to elementary and my son went to pre-K before it was shut down. I was a Sopchoppy Yellow Jacket! We might need to swarm over to these meetings and make sure they protect our history. Love y’all! Sopchoppy, baby!
