Thanks to Arbor Day volunteers

Editor, The Sun:

There would be no Crawfordville Arbor Day Celebration without tremendous community support. We would have no trees to give away were they not provided through the efforts and resources of the Wakulla County Garden Club, the Florida Forest Service, the Sarracenia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society (FNPS), and the National & Florida Wildlife Federations.
We are deeply grateful for the generous door prize donations we received from many local businesses: Just Fruits & Exotics, Native Nurseries, Tallahassee Nurseries, White Squirrel, Flower Peddler, Ace Hardware in Crawfordville, and Ace Hardware in Woodville. We appreciate the monetary and in-kind contributions from the Sarracenia Chapter of FNPS and the Wakulla County Garden Club.
This year, we extend special thanks to Al Pasini for generously covering our Hudson Park rental fee.
Nearly 60 volunteers were willing to work in expected rain on January 18th to conduct our 21st annual tree giveaway.
Those showing up included John & Colleen Alcorn, Fritz & Lucy Bertoch, Madeleine Carr, the Coetzee family (Jack, Joey, Tess & Sven), James & Vicki Cooper, Mary Cortese, Alicia Crites, Sue & Coach Damm, Margaret Davis, Mary Driscoll, Claudia Farren, Raycheal Gray, Michelle Hackmeyer, Chris Hill, Jiujing, Emily Johnson, Val LaHart, Gini Lawson, Jenn & Rich McWilliams, Julia Miner, Laura Mooser, Tonia Murray, Joy Neeves, Pam Pafford, Ann Ream, Jack Richardson, Betsy Rudden, Rita Schuetz, Pennie Slaughter, Betsy Smith, Alaine Solburg, Jaye Sousa, Shyla Stevenson, Trudy Thompson, Suzette Toohey & spouse, Dianna & Shannon Whitmore, and George Weaver.
Those volunteering on Friday (not named above) include Jeannie Brodhead, Desiree Estabrook, Marinell & Anton Hahna, David Roddenberry, and Joe Schuetz.
We thank Ernest Toole for entertaining us with music. The Wakulla County Parks Department is always supportive as are our local newspapers.
Lastly, we thank the many terrific exhibitors and vendors who took a chance on the weather and joined us for our return to Hudson Park. Thank you all!
Sincerely,

Lynn Artz

In praise of Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Editor, The Sun:

I wanted to take a minute to thank Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and those in the community who help make their mission possible.
Thanks to the organization and their volunteers, my children have beds in our new home.
I am posting anonymously for personal reasons, but they deserve so many thanks.
My sincerest gratitude goes out to this incredible organization and those who made sure my babies have a safe, sturdy, comfortable place to sleep at night.

Editor’s Note: Sleep in Heavenly Peace’s local bed-build is coordinated through the Rotary Club of Wakulla with the support of organizations such as Cone Distributing. The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office provides the location for the bed build. If your family needs a bed for children, go online to www.shpbeds.org/apply or contact a Rotarian for information.
