Time is moving fast. I looked at the calendar board today and it had past January, February and there was March. It is a month many of my family members celebrated their birthdays.
There is a lot going on in this busy world today. Let us forget about it for as moment. March’s the longest number = the 3.14 day (Pi day). The longest word is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, it consist of 45 letters in most English dictionaries.
Time is precious, we don’t need to lose any time. March is a time to share. Looking in my cook book I thought this would be a good one.
Cherry Berry Pie
Ingredients:
2 cups halved and pitted sweet cherries
2 cups blue berries
1 cup cranberries
2/3 cup plus
2 tablespoons sugar (sprinkling)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 grated orange zest
3 tablespoons corn starch
2 pie crusts
Milk for glaze
In a bowl combine cherries, blueberries, cranberries, 2/3 cup sugar, lemon juice, orange zest and mix well. Set aside stirring several times. Separate bowl mix, 2 tablespoons sugar and corn starch. Add to fruits and mix. Set aside and preheat oven to 400ºF.
Pour filling into bottom pie crust and cover with top crust. Brush top with milk and sprinkle sugar. Reduce heat to 375ºF and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
The N.W. Florida Diocese Church of Christ Written in Heaven. 5th Sunday union meeting will be held at Skipper Temple Church on March 30th. Night service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Sunday school at 10:30 a.m. and praise and worship at 11:30 a.m.
Regular service on the first, second and third Sundays will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday bible study at 6 p.m. and Friday prayer at noon.
Our prayers and concern goes out to all the sick and those shut in, the hospital, nursing home, prisons, homeless and families that lost loved ones. Let us continue to pray for the United States of America and world leaders.
