FRIday, May 23
- Deputy Carroll investigated a Retail Theft at Goodwill. An employee reported an unknown subject entered the store, gathered items in a shopping cart, and left the store passing all final points of sale failing to pay for the merchandise. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Deputy Kreitlow arrested Tommy J. Sanders II on Coastal Highway. During contact, Sanders refused to comply with lawful commands given to him and began actively resisting. An FWC Officer was also on scene, and utilized their agency issued Taser. Sanders was successfully taken into custody on his active warrant. Sanders was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine, and was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Obstruction, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was transported to the Wakulla County Detention Facility.
- Deputy Carroll responded to a vehicle fire on Woodland Heritage Boulevard. A resident reported his vehicle catching fire as he was driving it back to his residence. The resident stated he had just purchased the vehicle and was on his way home when he observed a burning smell and observed a small fire on the inside of his vehicle, so he pulled off to the side of the road and exited the vehicle. The fire completely engulfed the vehicle. Wakulla County Fire Rescue responded and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was deemed a complete loss.
Saturday, May 24
- Deputy Buckhalt conducted a traffic stop on a silver Mercury sedan in the area of Summerwood Drive and Bloxham Cutoff Road for making an improper U-turn. The vehicle nearly caused an accident with an approaching vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, Craig Patterson Symons, it was confirmed his license was suspended and he had an active warrant out of Leon County. Subsequently, Symons was placed under arrest for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (DWLSR) and transported to the Wakulla County Detention Facility.
- Deputy Williams responded to the Dollar Tree in reference to a battery complaint. Complainant reported she was in an altercation with an unknown female inside the business. After the other party accused her of skipping her in line. An argument ensued shortly after, and the complainant stated she attempted to ignore the other party, but the argument continued to be verbal in nature until the other female approached her in a separate checkout line. The complainant stated the unknown female then pushed her before other patrons inside the store intervened. The unknown female then fled the scene shortly after. Case has been turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Deputy Williams responded to New Light Church Road in reference to a structure fire. The east side of the residence was fully engulfed upon arrival. Wakulla County Fire Rescue responded and extinguish the flames. The home is valued at $425,000 and appears to be a total loss. A Kia Soul was also located inside the garage of the residence. It is unknown at this time how much damage the vehicle sustained.
- Deputy Smith responded to Blackfoot Road in reference to a theft complaint. Contact was made with a resident who reported two of his fishing poles were stolen sometime between May 21 and May 22. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
SUNday, May 25
- Deputy Parker attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle while in the area of Chehaw Street. After activating his emergency lights, the vehicle failed to stop and began making attempts to elude Deputy Parker by travelling down multiple roadways. During this incident, the driver of the motorcycle abandoned the bike and fled on foot. Deputy Parker began a foot pursuit which resulted in a swift apprehension of the driver. The driver was identified as Joseph Lawson Jr. It was discovered that Lawson did not possess a valid license which he was aware of. He was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Wakulla County Detention Facility.
- Deputy Smith conducted a traffic stop on a green Chevrolet Silverado in the area of Commerce Boulevard and Melaleuca Drive. Upon contact, the driver, John Roberts, it was confirmed his license was suspended and the tag on the vehicle came back to a 2015 blue Jeep. Subsequently, Roberts was placed under arrest for DWLSR and was transported to the Wakulla County Detention Facility.
- Deputy Sammons responded to Sink Drive in reference to a criminal mischief complaint. Contact was made with the property owners who reported they purchased the property for retirement and are in the process of making some renovations. The couple visit the property twice a month and upon their arrival this day, they observed the numerical address written on the south facing exterior wall. The couple did not advise of any other suspicious activity on the premises at this time and requested the incident be documented.
MONday, May 26
- Deputy Post investigated a disturbance between neighbors on Dickson Bay Road. Upon arrival it was determined the disturbance was verbal in nature and there were no indications a physical disturbance had occurred.
FRIday, May 23
- Deputy Rivers responded to Connie Drive and made contact with a complainant whose golf cart was damaged by an individual who struck it out of anger using a broom stick. Total damage was estimated to be approximately $300. The suspect was identified as John Frederick Werth. He was located and arrested, charged with Criminal Mischief, and was transported to the Wakulla County Detention Facility.
- Deputy Saba responded to Gray Circle and made contact with a resident who stated she had lost medication and she was advised to obtain a report from law enforcement before the medication could be replaced.
- Deputy Monroe investigaed a Retail Theft from Walmart. Loss Prevention reported an unknown subject passed the last point of sale with unpaid merchandise. Taken was a television valued at approximately $178. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Deputy Godwin responded to an address on Crawfordville Highway in reference to a Theft. Complainant reported the theft of items removed from his semi transport trailer. Taken were lumber tarps, miscellaneous bungee cords and an aluminum ladder. All items taken had an estimated value of $1,180. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
WEDNESday, May 28
- Deputy Weekes responded to Walmart in reference to a theft and made contact with a citizen who reported an unknown subject stole her credit cards and then proceeded to purchase items from Walmart, with a total loss of $1,017. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Deputy Weekes responded to Fox Run Circle and made contact with a resident who reported she was attempting to contact the Amazon Help Center so she Googled the phone number. Once she located the phone number, she made contact with who she believed to be customer service. The unknown subject the citizen spoke with gained control of her phone and the subject began sending money to another individual. At this time, she believes the individual only stole $120 from her account. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Deputy Sammons responded to Sioux Trail in reference to a theft complaint. Contact was made with a resident who reported his Dewalt power tool set and charger were stolen from his vehicle on May 27. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Deputy Sammons responded to Hampton Way in reference to a fraud complaint. Complainant reported she has been receiving calls from an unknown subject in reference to winning the lottery via a drawing she entered three years prior. The individual identified himself as Carl Wheeler. Wheeler told complainant she won $15.5 million and a new Mercedes Benz vehicle. In order to receive her winnings, Wheeler requested she send $1,000. When complainant told the caller she is on a fixed income, he attempted to lower the asking amounts all the way down to $250. Complainant stated the request appeared suspicious and stopped replying to the caller, and never sent any funds to the caller and requested the incident be documented.
- Deputy Smith responded to Walmart in reference to a theft complaint. Contact was made with Asset Protection Officer who reported observing a white female with blonde hair enter the store on May 27 at approximately 3:45 p.m. The female was onbserved making her way to different departments and retrieving items, placing them in her shopping cart. The female also made her way to the automotive section and selected a marine battery before making her way to the front of the store. Once the female made her way to the front of the store where she parked the shopping cart and exited the store briefly. Shortly after, the female subject re-entered the store and retrieved the battery from the shopping cart. At this point, the subject passed all points of sale and fled in a black Chevrolet Silverado. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Deputy Kittrell responded to Crawfordville Storage at 59 Shadeville Road in reference to a theft complaint. Complainant reported he was recently contacted by management on May 19 in reference to someone possibly entering his storage unit, and he was unable to inspect the unit until May 20. Complainant observed two Sony speakers missing, and three containers with clothes inside. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
THURSday, May 29
- Deputy Parker met with a resident on Marie Circle who located a bicycle lying next to the road opposite his residence. Deputy Parker retrieved the bicycle and submitted it to property and evidence for safekeeping. The owner of the bicycle is unknown at this time and was unable to be located.
- Deputy Buckhalt responded to Walmart in reference to a stolen vehicle. Contact was made with the complainant who advised when she got off work, she realized her vehicle, a 2004 Chevy pickup, was missing. Video surveillance showed another vehicle involved in the theft. CID was notified and the vehicle was entered into NCIC/FCIC as stolen. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Deputy Buckhalt located a stolen U-Haul truck at Wakulla Station Kangaroo gas station. As the vehicle attempted to exit the store parking lot Deputies conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Larry Danny Brown, was subsequently arrested for grand theft of a motor vehicle. Contact was made with Tallahassee Police Department, the entering agency, and the vehicle was picked up by U-Haul. Brown was charged with Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was transported to the Wakulla County Detention Facility. FRIday, May 30
- Deputy Godwin investigated a Theft on Iroquois Road. Complainant reported the theft of two belt buckles. Complainant went to obtain the package from the mailbox, and discovered it had been ripped open. Both items were valued at approximately $40. Investigation turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
