Well Billy Dean came to lil ol’ Sopchoppy and put on a show. A sold out show! The promoter asked for me to put the flyer on my social media. Well he sold out and then his phone just kept ringing…. He called and said please let people know it is sold out. I’m tired of answering the phone…haha
This shows me a couple things. One, I need to charge for my promotions and we need more shows like this! These shows could provide revenue for the city to help with the building and property maintenance. We just got to organize some good events. I’m down to help. Obviously my social media is reaching many. I have over 23,700 followers on Facebook and it grows every day! My Sopchoppy page has grown too. On the Sopchoppy page I post history, local business, local events and everything Sopchoppy. We provide Sopchoppy News, baby. I mean I do write the Sopchoppy News for The Wakulla Sun. Please follow the Sopchoppy page. The background is a big SOP.
Sopchoppy Sauce dropped a new flavor! The YELLA! They sent me a bottle. Woooooo! I love Sopchoppy Sauce. The yella is a little like Carolina Gold style but Sopchoppy Sauce makes everything special. Kinda like a honey mustard. Getcha some down home goodness!
I went bream fishing with Cosmo and had a blast. We got our worms from the famous Revell bait shop. The whole experience is fun. Cosmo was randomly singing on the river. We just had a good ol’ time… we caught a few bream and he gave them to a lady that wanted some. That river is good for my soul. I love the sounds, the view and boy do I love to fish. A lot of people like to play music but I play music for a living. I like to hear nature. I tune into the nature. I heard a hoot owl. My Uncle Johnny use to say, “When ya hear the owl the fish are gonna bite.” I was excited about hearing the owl and it reminded me of my crazy uncle. Good conversations and nature is what it’s all about. Good times!
Deputy DJ visited Wakulla County! He has been traveling all over the United States. He has been deputized over 3,000 times. I was the DJ for the cookout in St. Marks. I was proud to see so many organizations and leaders in our community come together for a great cause. The Sheriff’s office, firefighters, lottery and many more. They had food, music, entertainment! This made me very proud of Wakulla!
Wakulla is a community built on family and love. We help one another. We have each other’s back. We need to stick to our roots and do more events like this.

Train Time is a new movie coming out at IMAX about trains. National Railway Historical Society came to visit Nelson Martin at our train depot In Sopchoppy. They actually interviewed Nelson and got footage of the Sopchoppy depot.
The movie will be at IMAX August 21st in Tallahassee. Perfect timing because We have a festival coming up in Sopchoppy September 13th called Sopchoppy Depot Days! Classic Car Parade.
