A passenger on the bike is in critical condition after wreck

A 49-year-old Monticello man riding a motorcyle on U.S. 98 was killed in a crash on Saturday, April 13, around 6 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A passenger on the motorcyle, a 48-year-old woman from Monticello, was transported to Tallahassee Memorial in critical condition, FHP reported.
According to the report, the motorcyle was traveling east on 98 near the Spring Creek Highway intersection and attempted to pass a pickup truck that was slowing to make a left turn onto Spring Creek.
The motorcycle went into the westbound lane to overtake the truck and struck the driver’s side of the truck. The driver and passenger were thrown off the motorcyle and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing helmets.
The driver of the truck, a 19-year-old female from Sopchoppy and a 15-year-old female passenger from Crawfordville, were uninjured.
FHP does not release the names of people involved in crashes.
