What up from Sopchoppy!
I provided the sound for Mudbugs & Music festival. This was a crawfish cook off. It was held in Panacea. It was really cool to see the different cooking styles. Good Music, good food, good friends and good times.
I saw flowers blooming In Sopchoppy. They are beautiful. I wish the nature trail was fixed up like when I was a child. Those flowers are still there and I see the different ones. It just needs a little love. Cleaned up, bring the trail back through it. It would make a great garden and walk area. I use to cut through there from my grandmother’s house to go to school and then back through to go to grandma’s after school. Many kids did this because my grandma watched A LOT of Sopchoppy kids….
We all also enjoyed playing in the nature trail. I don’t know where the name came from. We just always called it that. It also had a small bridge on the school side. Beautiful place. The history that I heard was that block was originally the garden to grow vegetables for the school lunches. Later flowers were planted all through it. A trail went through it and all the different colors of flowers were amazing!
I went to the city park recently and noticed the wild azaleas were blooming too.
I took my mom on a golf cart ride and we rode by the old Sopchoppy gym. My mom randomly tells me that her dad and grandad helped do the lime rock on the building. I’m like, “Mom, why have you not ever told me this?” The more I learn and research the more I find out how much my family contributed to Sopchoppy history.
Went to another Worm Gruntin’ Festival meeting! Ohhhhhh it just keeps getting better! I saw the art work! I saw the bands booked. I heard more about all the stuff happening at the heritage stage. Mullet, honey, turpentine, Worm Gruntin’! This year is going to be huge! I’m hosting the Worm Gruntin competition.
I went to the crawfish cook off and the gumbo cook off in Panacea and I enjoyed them both. We have a lot of cool festivals in our area. I’m coming to Carrabelle this weekend. The Historic Crooked River Lighthouse! I’m doing a worm gruntin’ demonstration and promoting the festival….
Ben and I rode around Sopchoppy on the golf cart and picked up trash all through town. We want to keep Sopchoppy beautiful. Please don’t throw your trash on the side of the road and if the bear gets in your trash pick it up. It wasn’t bad but it definitely helped. I appreciate Ben going over and beyond on cleaning up our community.
Sopchoppy is a special place. If you come and visit or are new to the area please stop at stop signs. Drive slow and clean up your trash. Locals too, but most of them already do a great job.
I love Sopchoppy and we want to keep it beautiful easy living…… love from my small town.
