Palaver Tree Theater held the first candidate forum of the political season on Thursday, May 23.
Most candidates for local political office – including a couple with no opposition as of yet – turned up to take questions from the audience. While candidate petitions were due by noon on May 13, candidates can still qualify for office by paying the fee to run – that qualifying period is June 10-14. The Wakulla Sun will hold candidate forums after the qualifying period ends and it’s clear who all the candidates for office will be. So far there are three candidates for superintendent of schools, two for property appraiser, a contested seat on the county commission, and a couple of contested school board races.
