Salute to Our Veterans event held Friday, Saturday

A Salute to our Veterans event was held at the Wakulla County Community Center on both Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22, to provide services such as medical, dental, eye care, veterans services, counseling, financial literacy, haircuts, music and more. The event was hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary Post 4538 and was open to all Veterans and their families.

Artulla arts festival held at Wakulla Springs

A three-day art event was held at Wakulla Springs Lodge wrapping visitors in the beauty and inspiration of the natural surroundings. Live painting, a craft show and auction was enjoyed with proceeds benefitting the Friends of Wakulla Springs State Park.

4-H Speech contest held in Wakulla

4-H District III Public Speaking Contest was held May 4th at the Wakulla County Extension Office in Crawfordville. Participants in the contest are winners from their respective school located in Leon, Jefferson, Gadsden, Franklin Wakulla, Liberty, and Gulf counties.

PAWS DOG WASH

PAWS held its Pamper Your Pooch dog wash on Saturday morning, and among the canine friends getting cleaned up that day was “Meika,” a Lab-Doberman mix owned by Neil Payton. Pictured with Meika are PAWS volunteers Teresa Corbett, Allie Bruce and Cassandra Manuel. Ryan Ladwig is a Troop 5 Boy Scout who identified a need in his Wakulla County community and by demonstrating leadership skills and upholding the Boy Scout Promise of Duty to Other People, Ryan worked with his team to build pathways that lead to the two pavilions and connect to the sidewalk and parking lot of Shell Point Beach.
