Correction

A front page story last week about the resolution of a conflict between D.R. Horton and the Homeownerโ€™s Association at The Retreat at Wakulla incorrectly identified the original construction company which founded the HOA and the president of the HOA.
The original builder was Precision Home Builders dba Gene Cutchin Construction.
The Sunbiz listing for the HOA lists Travis Pereze as president and Susan Jones as secretary.
We regret the errors.

The Wakulla County Christian Coalition is hosting three events for this weekendโ€™s African American Heritage Celebration.
The first event is the Arthur Lee Andrews Scholarship Gala โ€œCelebrating Acheivers in Medicineโ€ at the community center on Friday, followed by a Parade in Hudson Park on Saturday, and a Read-in at Palaver Tree Theater on Sunday. See the calendar in “On the Horizon” for more details.

Arbor Day

Members of the garden club were at the county commission meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16, with examples of the native trees they planned to give away on Saturday โ€“ and they gave away 1,500 trees at the 20th annual Arbor Day tree giveaway. They also planted two live oaks at the Medart Rec Park on Friday, one dedicated to Jeanne Brodhead for her accomplishments. Stories on Page 14. (Photo by William Snowden)
