By DJ BUTCH
Hello from Sopchoppy! The weather has been warm. But it has been beautiful. I traveled to Franklin County to DJ the Seahawks homecoming game. That was really awesome! Friday night I was the DJ for Low Tide. Saturday was Brewfest in St. Marks. Followed by the rec park Superbowl! Busy weekend for me. I love entertaining everyone.
Squirrels are out in full force in Sopchoppy. I have seen way more white squirrels. They are absolutely beautiful. We are blessed to have lots of wildlife here.
Last Saturday my boys did a lemonade stand. We saw the gardeners working away at the Depot Park. We gave them some lemonade to cool them down. Speaking of lemons, my lemon tree is producing a lot of lemons and they are getting close to being ready for harvest. They are so good. This is a Myers lemon. I think it is a cross between lemon and orange because they are bigger than the average lemon. They also are not near as bitter. I think we have a good climate for them. They seem to be doing great. I guess I’m getting old when you really start to enjoy things like that. I get a lot of joy picking fruit from my tree that I grew. It’s a gift that keeps giving. I plan to plant more fruit trees.
The Sopchoppy city commissioner election is finished. Congratulations to our new commissioners. I trust and hope you keep Sopchoppy “easy living.” Protect our little piece of paradise. We don’t want over-development. We don’t want to end up like Crawfordville. Some things are worth more than money. Some people get so focused on money that they lose sight of what really matters. Money isn’t everything. Live your life. Spend time with your kids and family. We only live once on this earth so make it count. Make memories that last. Enjoy the small things.
That is what Sopchoppy is about. We enjoy the small little town because it is special. The real Sopchoppy already knows this. We have been here and enjoyed this land for generations. Sopchoppy has inspired many songs. Sopchoppy has inspired so much art. The energy and love that it brings is unmatched.
I’m very honored to write the Sopchoppy News. I am very passionate about Sopchoppy. You can hear and feel that in my music. This is just another opportunity for me to tell people about my little town and what is happening in my little town.
Have you ever visited the festivals? They are so much fun. How about the City Park? Or the Depot Park? Come visit this little worm grunting paradise.
