An 18-year-old Crawfordville teenager was critically injured in a car crash near the intersection of Shell Point Road and Live Oak Island Road on Wednesday, Feb. 21, around 3 p.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol.


The car was traveling north on Shell Point Road approaching the intersection with Live Oak Island and ran off the roadway to the right and onto the east shoulder, then over-corrected to the left causing the car to rotate across the road onto the west shoulder where it struck a utility pole, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt.
The injuries suffered by the male teen were reported as critical, and the teen was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital by Survival Flight.
FHP does not release names of those involved in crashes.
Troopers were assisted on scene by Wakulla Fire Rescue and the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.
