County commissioners hosted a public meeting on Songbird intersection improvements on Thursday, March 7, at the Wakulla County Community Center.
Project details were shared on improvements to the Crawfordville Highway/Songbird Avenue intersection and aroundabout to be located at the Songbird Avenue/Wakulla Arran Road intersection.
Speaking at the meeting were Pat Jones, representing Wakulla County School Board Transportation, County Administrator David Edwards, Justin Ford of Dewberry Engineering, Morris Pigott of Pigott Asphalt and Site-Work, and Mike King, county Road and Bridge Director. Also attending were Somer Pell, Assistant Director of Planning and Community Development and county commissioners Quincee Messersmith, Mike Kemp and Fred Nichols.
This will be the third roundabout constructed in Wakulla County, the others being at Cajer Posey Road and East Ivan Road.
Adding a right turn lane and resurfacing 319 in this area with crosswalks and pedestrian signals was discussed at the meeting as well.
