Wakulla 4-H Shotgun Club member Emiliano Cadena participated in the 16th Annual Bustin’ Clays event with Sheriff Grady Judd fundraiser on Saturday, April 6, at Tenoroc Sporting Clays in Lakeland.
Emiliano is a state-ranked 4-H competition skeet, trap, and sporting clays shooter. At the Bustin’ Clays event, Emiliano won the Best Youth Award with a 48 out of a possible 50 score.
The Bustin’ Clays event is part of Polk County Sheriff’s Charities, Inc. and has become one of the most visible and fun shooting events in Central Florida. Proceeds are used to support scholarships and meet needs in the local community throughout Polk County.
This annual event also honors the memory of Noah Jeffries. Noah was accepted to attend the Polk County Sheriff’s Academy of Florida and would have started his training in 2018. Noah first met Sheriff Grady Judd at the age 13, when he was the high-overall winner at a sporting clays competition. Sheriff Judd spoke at Noah’s memorial service on October 12, 2017 and at that time, posthumously swore him into office as a Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy.
The Wakulla 4-H Shotgun Clubs practices at the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Shooting Range in Sopchoppy. The club will accept new members in August 2024. For more information, contact the Wakulla County Extension office at 850-926-3931.
